Suzanne Ohlfest | | Suzanne has been with The Event Team since 1999 and has been one of our "rocks' during her tenure with us. Suzanne has a gift of adapting to her guests and feeling out what they want to experience on a tour.
On recent tours, Suzanne has been able to tap into her creative side "on the fly." Never one to complain, Suzanne has faced challenges head on, providing wonderful tours for our guests. Her knowledge of San Diego, especially the Zoo and La Jolla, brings a personal touch to tours and allows guests to walk away with behind the scenes secrets. This helps The Event Team stand out from our competitors. A big THANK YOU to Suzanne for helping The Event Team shine with our clients.
Lifestyle Transportation
The Event Team was dealt a huge challenge at the end of 2009 when our valued transportation partner closed their doors and we were left with groups to transfer with less than two weeks notice. After trying another company and having them close their doors too, Jorge with Lifestyle Transportation came to our rescue. Jorge and his team jumped in with both feet and proved to the Event Team that they understood what it meant to be a partner with us and took over our transportation needs as if we'd been working together for years. Anytime we have a need for transportation, Jorge is there for us and with the best looking vehicles. Jorge has also helped us add more to our tours to Temecula with his vast knowledge of the area and wineries, enabling us to provide a better experience to our clients. A big THANK YOU to Jorge and everyone at Lifestyle Transportation for becoming a valued partner to The Event Team in a short amount of time and never letting us down. We look forward to a long partnership with you. |

President's Letter
Summer may not be great for the group travel industry but it is a great time to see Southern California. It doesn't matter if you are a long time resident or an out-of-towner...there is more "fun in the sun" here than anywhere. The beaches, mountains and deserts are our best treasures but this year theme park attractions are giving them a run for their money. San Diego has a new Polar Bear exhibit at the Zoo and a new Dolphin Show at Sea World. Anaheim has California Adventure's "World of Color" Nighttime water spectacular and Los Angeles has Universal Studios King Kong the 3D experience. If it doesn't exist in Southern California it is not worth doing! Enjoy the summer! ~Matt |

Summer Time in So Cal
the living IS easy
For some reason, Southern California's May Gray and June Gloom seem to have extended into an unusual Cloudy Sky July. But just because the sun hasn't been out doesn't mean you can't get your fair share of fun here. Here's the low-down on what's happening this summer:
Catalina Island Zip Line: Be among the first to propel down the only zip line in LA & Orange County. Dropping from 500 feet to 60 feet above sea level with one run that is 1,100 lineal feet long all on it's own, they are calling this new zip line 'perfect'. This incredible experience will forever change your idea of what a tour should be. You will travel close to three quarters of a mile over five consecutive zip lines at heights of 300 feet above the canyon floor at speeds pushing 45mph. Beginning at the Hog's Back gate, high in the hills near Avalon and descending through Descanso Canyon, you will pause at several eco-stations along the way before continuing on your journey. At each station, your hosts will give you a presentation on some of the unique and interesting aspects of Catalina Island, its wildlife, history, and the areas you are passing through. Eventually exiting at Descanso Beach your journey will last approximately 2 hours and your memories will last a lifetime. Check out a video!Catalina Zip Line |
Universal Studios Hollywood King Kong 360 3-D: Created by Peter Jackson, the world's largest, most intense 3-D experience takes guests to the next generation of theme park excitement. Riders on the Studio Tour tram will be transported, via a darkened soundstage, to King Kong's home - Skull Island - where through the magic of the world's largest Surround Digital 3-D projection system they are thrust in the middle of a ferocious battle between the worlds' most famous ape and a giant T-Rex. Visitors will feel the tram jolt and reverberate as the 3-D battle unfolds around them. King Kong 360 3D |
Blue Horizons at Sea World San Diego: Flying dolphins, acrobats and birds all have roles to play in a new SeaWorld dolphin show. Nearly 3,000 guests were on hand for the announcement of the Blue Horizons show that started in May 2010, taking over the slot that Dolphin Discovery has been occupying for a 13-year run. Park officials describe the new show as a "theatrical spectacular that showcases graceful dolphins and pilot whales, a rainbow of exotic birds and an entire cast of world-class divers and aerialists, who come together in a place where the sea meets the sky." Food Trucks
they're not just for tacos and ice cream anymore!
At the Event Team, we're always looking out for trends and finding ways to incorporate them into our programs. Over the last few months, we've noticed that food trucks are gaining popularity throughout Southern California. Taco Trucks have been a California staple for years, but we're starting to see many types of cuisine on wheels. Ranging from organic New Zealand burgers to Korean BBQ, these trucks put a new spin on catering and add a playful touch to company picnics, teambuilding events and other outdoor functions.

The Event Team's Internship Program
Throughout the year, The Event Team seeks out several qualified students or career-oriented individuals to be a part of our intern program. We are happy to say that this has been a very fulfilling project, not only for us, but also for our honorary team members. Two of our past interns have transitioned into full-time employees, and many others have gone on to enjoy success within the industry. Former intern Chelsea Conway, now employed at San Diego's Hard Rock Hotel, says "The Event Team was my first 'family' in San Diego. I couldn't have asked for a better foot-in-the-door when it came to my interests for the hospitality industry. My internship provided me with challenging and rewarding opportunities to quickly learn the ins and outs of the DMC world. When my time came to shine in a new career, everyone gave me the connections, resources, and encouragement I needed to make it happen. I am thrilled to be a part of this exciting industry and to know that I will continue to cross paths with my dear friends at The Event Team." Congratulations to you Chelsea! We look forward to growing our program and appreciate spectacular interns like you!
