Caitilin Returns from Galapagos
|
Lessons in Ahimsa
In teaching her first class after returning from a dream trip to the Galapagos Islands with her family this spring, Caitilin shared with us her revelations about the miracle of the Galapagos.
Everyone who returns from this glorious place talks about how the animals - apparently all the animals - are unafraid of humans. Of course they are protected from being killed and mistreated, and there is very little predation amongst themselves, so they haven't been naturally selected for timidity. Caitilin's revelation was in contemplating the enormity of this reality. If we all practiced more ahimsa, or non-violence, how much less fear would there be in this world? She asked us to take a look at our relationships to ourselves, to others, to animals, and to the environment, and make at least one small change that will bring us closer to living in a non-violent world.

Dear Yogis and Yoginis,
We have much exciting news to report .............Firstly, Kavitha delivered a beautiful girl, Samiha, at 5:00 PM on February 15th.
Kavitha, Samiha, and Jeff are all doing well and will soon be emerging from their cocoon of love so we can all meet lovely Samiha and see our wonderful Kavitha again. Kavitha will be teaching again at the Yoga Barn probably by the end of April.More good news in the Yoga Barn Family - Nicolas and Melissa are getting married on April 26th. We wish them much happiness and complete understanding that there is no class on April 25th! Congratulations Nicolas and Melissa.Laurie is planning a fabulous trip to Italy this spring, so Yolates classes will be cancelled from April 11th through April 22nd. Have a wonderful trip Laurie and eat lots of pasta.
Our COMMUNITY CLASS is growing every week and we hope it will continue to grow. Please tell people in the community who need to do yoga and cannot afford our regular prices about our Community Class. We need to make a small adjustment in price, which we hope everyone will understand. In order to break even with our cost we need to raise the price to $6. This is going to create a 'making change' nightmare so we are also going to add a series of 5 classes for $30 which people can buy for convenience. The series will be good for a year so there shouldn't be any difficulty in using 5 classes in one year! Thanks for your understanding.
Our Thursday morning class at 9:30 - which is now called Restorative/Yin Yoga is returning to it's original concept of Gentle Yoga. Gentle Yoga will include some restorative and yin yoga but also movement, pranayama, and yoga nidra. It will not be so different from the current class, but I felt the reality of the class has changed in relation to the description.
