 Meet my Six New Friends

As we say goodbye to six colours from last year's Idea Book & Catalogue, we get to meet our six new colours:

Kiwi Kiss
Tangerine Tango
Baja Breeze
Pacific Point
Riding Hood Red
Pink Pirhouette

Our new colours!

These will be lots of fun to play with this year - I can't wait to see what colour combinations you come up with!
In the meantime, I have dowloaded a colour chart for your convenenience.  It will help inspire you on how to mix these colours in with the 48 core Stampin' Up! colours.

These cardstock colours and inks can be ordered as of noon today!

What is the best way to mount my stamps?

I get asked this question a lot, especially when people see the different ways that I have mounted mine over the years.

Great news!  Stampin' Up! is now transitioning to ALL stamp sets being die cut!  See the full details here

Some tips for you:
1.  If you are trimming your stamps, trim as close to the imge as possible.  This will help avoid getting those extra ink frames and marks around your image.

2.  Make sure you use very sharp scissors (preferable are SU's Rubber Cutting scissors) and cut at a 90 degree angle.  It's important you don't "undercut" or cut so that the foam padding is smaller than the rubber because this will give you stamp an unsteady surface. I often cut mine so that the foam padding is slightly bigger than the rubber.

3. When positioning your stamp on your wood mount, think about how you prefer to stamp.  Some like to have their images dead in the centre of the mount, some prefer at the bottom, and some prefer to the left hand side.  Keep in mind, too, that the stamp-a-ma-jig is a fantastic tool for perfect placement of your images.

4.  If you need to reposition or retrim a stamp later - pop it in the microwave for about 3 seconds. The glue will loosen and you can remove the stamp from the block.  You may need to use a bit more adhesive to remount it.

Who doesn't love punches?  Quick and accurate - they are an essential tool for any paper crafter.

I have found over the years that the basic shapes give you the best value for money - circles, squares, ovals, and their variations.  They can be folded, double punched, used together for layering, and grouped to make more complex shapes.

The above flower was made using the Large and Small Oval punch for a quick, cost effective embellishment.  See here for a tutorial on how to make these.  Enjoy!
