Effective Embossing
I just love the look of white writing or white accents on a project. Which is why I own three white gel pens! But the above uses white craft ink and white embossing powder. Here are a few tips for effective embossing:
* Before you do anything, use the embossing buddy! This is an anti-static bag that really makes a difference. (it's also very useful when using glitter - might have to start rubbing it all over my face before class). Simply rub the bag over your project. The fine chalk inside eliminates static from your surface so the embossing powder won't be clinging anywhere naughty.
* Stamp straight down and straight up. Don't rock your stamp - that's how you end up with extra ink and marks around your images. Use either the Whisper White craft ink (used above) or versamark.
* Flick off as much emobosing powder as possible before you heat. Another good idea is to have your tray of embossing powder relatively far away from your heat tool! Now can you tell there's a story behind that tip?
*Don't wave the heat tool around a lot while embossing. This just blows your powder off your image. Don't be afraid to just get in there close and get it melted.
*If your emobssed image looks sort of lumpy or bubbly, it's not yet cooked. Keep heating until it not only melts, but then smooths out.
* Use good quality embossing powder! It does make a difference. Stampin Up! has all the basic colours at only 10.95! Order yours today at mail@stamphappy.co.nz.
