Community Service Day

to coincide with Bishop transition

Bishop-elect Robert C. Wright has designated Sept. 29 as a day of community service in the Diocese of Atlanta in conjunction with the farewell to Bishop J. Neil Alexander and the ordination of the 10th bishop of Atlanta.

Volunteers from throughout the diocese have been invited to spend a day working for the Atlanta Community Food Bank. The Bishop-elect's expressed desire is that "this ordination be not just about feasting but working for the Lord to feed those who are hungry."

There are two activities scheduled for the day, one at the Food Bank's Product Rescue Center, 732 Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard, Atlanta, and the other at one of its 150 community gardens. To participate contact Rev. Harold Lockett, 404-241-7711 or haroldlockett@gmail.com
