During the Lenten season please donate to the Episcopal Relief & Development Fund.In 2010, Episcopal Relief & Development reached more than 3 million people in over 40 countries around the world.

Rather than imposing "one size fits all" solutions, Episcopal Relief & Development supports unique local, long-term initiatives that address poverty, hunger, disease, economic development and disaster response.

Our partnership with the worldwide Church creates opportunities to serve communities in some of the most remote areas of the world, as well as in urban environments where extreme poverty persists.

In many of these places, the Church is often one of the few institutions people trust and turn to for help. Episcopal Relief & Development leverages existing Church relationships to reach those whose need is greatest.

Sign up online to volunteer for various events

It's possible now to volunteer for upcoming events involved with this year's bishop transition process. The transition committee offers various opportunities involving: communications, the May 14-18 "walkabouts" for bishop candidates, the electing convention on June 2, the ordination of the 10th bishop of Atlanta on Oct. 13, and the celebration of the ministry of our ninth bishop, the Rt. Rev. J. Neil Alexander. All who want to volunteer are asked to fill out the volunteer form found on the transition website here.

A Prayer for Our Candidates for the 10th Bishop

of the Diocese of Atlanta and Our Nominating Committee

O God, we lift up each candidate for 10th Bishop of the Diocese of Atlanta as well as each member of the Nominating Committee for your blessing. Open all hearts and minds to the guidance of your Holy Spirit.

For the candidates ...

Be with them in their waiting and wondering.

Guide them in their ongoing discernment.

Give them courage to seek and do your will.

For those on the Nominating Committee ...

Grant them wisdom in their discernment.

Calm their anxious moments with the

reassurance of your presence.

Give them courage to seek and do your will.

Uphold us all by your grace and power. Give us faith in you and trust in one another and ourselves.

We pray all of this and more in the name of Your Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, Amen.

- The Rev. Deborah Silver, nominating committee chaplain
