Christmas music

DO NOT MISS THIS!

Miss what?

An Advent/Christmas Cantata with guest narrators from India and Kenya and our own St. Michael and All Angels Choir supplemented by 8 singers from Decatur Presbyterian Church. The script is an original one written by our choir director/organist Barry Davies, and it tells the story from the interesting and unusual point of view of the disadvantaged at the time of the birth of Jesus. You will love the choice of music that goes with it, and you will sing along, of course, with the hymns.

Where and when is all this?

At our church, of course - in the Sanctuary of St. Michael and all Angels on Saturday, December 10 from 5 p.m.to 6 p.m. You will be home in time for supper!

The Outreach Committee and the ECW

is asking your support for Emmaus House

There are three specific Christmas programs we will be helping with. The first is the Grandparents' Party, which's on December 13. Please donate $10 gift cards from Publix, Kroger's, Target or Wal-Mart and small raffle items to include towels, dishes, small appliances, gloves, XXL jackets etc. Please place these items in the Parlor by Sunday, December 11. We will deliver them to Emmaus House after the 12:30 service.

The next event is the Secret Santa Shop where the children can shop for small items for their parents and grandparents.

Please donate scarves, slippers socks, soap, shampoo, cologne, shaving cream, razors, gloves, wallets, decorative items, or costume jewelry to support this event. (Durable items may be gently used.)

Lastly, as we have done in previous years, we are also asking for items for the Children's Christmas Party. See the gift suggestions in the box to the left. Please place items for the children's Christmas Party in the Parlor.

Do not wrap any of the presents.

We will be wrapping them between services on Sunday December 4, 11 and 18. All are welcome to help wrap. We have plenty of wrapping paper from last year, but could use all sizes of gift bags. If you re-use gift bags and have a few to spare please leave them in the parlor. Our Youth will be delivering the children's Christmas party gifts to Emmaus House on Sunday December 18 after the 12:30 service with a stop over at the Varsity on our way home. As always, thank you for your generous support for those in our community who need our help. If you have any questions, please contact Marty Frame at 770-270-1027.

United Thank Offering

November 13, 2011

United Thank Offering (UTO) is a ministry of the Episcopal Church for the mission of the whole church. Through United Thank Offering, men, women and children nurture the habit of giving daily thanks to God. These prayers of thanksgiving start when we recognize and name our many daily blessings. Those who participate in UTO discover that thankfulness leads to generosity. United Thank Offering is entrusted to promote thank offerings, to receive the offerings, and to distribute the UTO monies to support mission and ministry throughout the Episcopal Church and in invited Provinces of the Anglican Communion in the developing world.

United Thank Offering Prayer

Gracious God, source of all creation, all love, all true joy; accept, we pray, these outward signs of our profound and continuing thankfulness for all of life. Keep each of us ever thankful for all the blessings of joy and challenge that come our way. Bless those who will benefit from these gifts through the outreach of the United Thank Offering. This we ask through Him who is the greatest gift and blessing of all, Jesus Christ. Amen.+

bishop search

A Prayer for the Diocese of Atlanta

O God, you lead your Church into all truth: Give the guiding presence of your Holy Spirit to those who have dedicated themselves to your service in our search for the 10th Bishop of the Diocese of Atlanta.

May our prayers and discernment be in accord with the mission you have given us to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ.

May our next bishop be a person of prayer who is present to us as pastor and teacher while prophetically calling us to the ministry of justice, peace, and love; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
