Disaster Prevention Tip Sheet

SUMMER 2008

Home Nearly Destroyed by Burst Water Pipe

This job proved to be one of the worst water damage jobs Jim Paradise has ever worked on.

The water pipes on the third floor froze while nobody was home during the winter months. Water came down through the second and first floors all the way to the basement. The damage was so extensive that everything had to be torn out - the ceilings, walls, floors, electrical wiring and more. In addition, mold had grown on most of the surfaces around the home. Stairs Restored

Paradise filled several dumpsters with the materials they removed from the house. The furniture and other contents that could be saved were cleaned and carried out into storage containers. They then eradicated the mold, thoroughly dried it out, and prepared it for reconstruction.

The photo at right shows the fully restored stairway.
