Bonjour, I love this time of year! When children go back to school and
there's a chill in the air, it's a
wonderful time to think about doing some fall decorating. No matter what the color or style of your decor, there are fall colors
that will blend and add warmth and interest to your space inside or out. Rust,
golds, greens, reds and browns compliment almost any color scheme. Choose
the colors that look best in your home, and you will be able to create
a wonderful, cozy space. If you take a cue from nature you can't go wrong! In
this issue I've provided a couple of ideas for fall decorating. I hope
you'll be inspired to try these or some of your own. Go on ....give it a try! |
Natural Arrangements
Turn a walk in the woods into a gorgeous mantle or table decoration.
Just gather a basketful of pretty materials and use them to gussy up your fireplace mantle or hall table. Lay a strip of brown or dark green felt on your mantle, then begin by placing the larger objects such as pine cones, mini-pumpkins, gourds, etc. (Tip: Place circles of plastic under any items that could decay, such as pumpkins or fruit.)
Arrange
your objects in a linear fashion, or make the arrangement higher in the
center or higher on the ends. Fill in gaps between objects with moss to
cover the felt, then with lots of stems of fresh or preserved fall
leaves (or use a silk garland in place of fresh). Twigs or pine
clippings can also be used for variety. Finally, place the smallest items such as rocks, acorns, small pine cones, and fragile fern leaves. Beautiful !

Fall Decorating-Outdoors
Fall is the time when people move indoors and welcome guests to warm
visits over cider. Greet your guests with a beautifully decorated
entrance. Using materials you
may have in your yard or can pick up at the market, the outside of your
home will look as warm and welcoming as it is inside. Combine bright orange pumpkins/gourds in a basket with pots of kale, grasses,
and mum for a great look on a porch. Change out the pots as plants
fade and/or add more pumpkins/gourds to fill in as needed.
