Can Customers See Your Signal?

When a customer comes to your Web site, how quickly can they figure out your selling signals? What are your buy now messages on the home page? Is your home page nothing but one long story all about your company's values and efforts in the community? Every Web site should be selling you with clear easy to recognize signals.

People who land upon your Web site via a search engine result need to know almost immediately (6 to 12 seconds) what your company does and why they should do business with you. Otherwise, 95% of them are going to click the back button and go somewhere else.

For Web sites, like almost everything else.. You never get a second chance to make a first impression. Your may have the greatest product or service in the world, but if people have to read paragraphs of text to figure out what you do and why they should use you, you're going to lose them. Set the home page up so it provides a clear set of selling signals.

Please call me if you want me to help you with your Commissioner Gordon signal :-)

Google and Yahoo go High Tech

Gone are the days of Key Word cramming on your Web site. Key word cramming is where you just type onto your Web site somewhere a bunch of words that will hopefully make your site show up in Google and Yahoo.

Both companies are going high tech in their indexing approach. You must still use Key Words in your content, but those words better make sense and fit with the rest of the paragraphs on your page. And, your entire site should have relevant content to those key words.

You would still show up in Google or Yahoo if you were an auto repair shop and on your home page you typed, spark plugs, tires, brakes, mufflers, wipers, etc. But you're going to show up much higher in Google if your home page says something like....

For the finest in automotive parts and accessories in the kansas city and surrounding communities such as Overland Park, Lenexa, Olathe and LeeWood. Our large, in house supply of automotive sparkplugs, tires, brakes and wipers puts us in the best position to help you with your car needs.

Then, its going to do even better if you have a pages in your Web site dedicated to parts and supplies where you further re-iterate your product and services.

The software they are going to start using will attempt to mirror how humans read text and assign rankings accordingly.

If you're interested or need help in rewriting the content of your site to take advantage of this new way of indexing, please give me a call. Chris 913.908.5642
Featured Web Site VMB Law

http://www.networthKC.net is the featured site of the month. Why? Because it cost about $400 to put together. We had it up and running in under a week. AND most importantly, the first day it was up it brought in $1,600 in online payments. As Tom Cruise would say. I feel the need..the need for speed. Chris 913.908.5642
