Downtown Gets Jazzed Up!

This week Downtown Eau Claire will be filled with music!
Eau Claire's annual Jazz Fest starts this Thursday, March 29. Come join in the music! The Jazz Festival includes 30 concerts around the downtown area, and runs from Thursday, March 29 through Sunday, April 1. There will be jam sessions, clinics and concerts -- come to as many as you can!
Some of the events include:
Thursday:
- It's All Jazz Kick-Off Party! For $45 for the public / $18 for students, come to Stella Blues for free appetizers from 6:30-9 p.m.
Friday:
- The United States Marine Corps Jazz Combo plays at Haas Fine Arts building at noon
- The Vocal Jazz Concert "Lake Effect" is performing in the Schofield Auditorium at 2 p.m.
- 52nd St. Begins! The event goes from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., and at 10 p.m. the Venues Explode With Music!
Saturday:
- High School and Middle School Instrumental Jazz Performances are from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the UW-Eau Claire campus
- UW-Eau Claire Jazz Alumni Band Concert is at Zorn Arena at 4:30 p.m.
- From 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. there is the After-Glow Party at Mona Lisa's Restaurant
Sunday:
- Java and Jazz takes place at the Acoustic Cafe from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- There is also Sweet Jazz! which is also 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is at Obsession Chocolates
- Wake Up to Jazz Brunch is again from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Porter's Restaurant at the Ramada for $12
We certainly hope you can join Eau Claire's Jazz Festival this year - the events are bigger and better than ever! Many of the events are free, and those that are not have fairly inexpensive tickets and they can be bought cheaper through the package bundles that are offered.

A Clear Vision Community Forum
Ideas for New Event Facilities
You can give your ideas and input for possible new event facilities in Eau Claire. "Creating Major New Event Facilities in Eau Claire: A Clear Vision Community Forum" will be held Thursday, March 29, 7-9 p.m. The meeting will take place in the community room at Royal Credit Union (RCU), 200 Riverfront Terrace, next to Phoenix Park in downtown Eau Claire.
The goal of this event is to make the community fully aware of the findings of the Clear Vision Eau Claire Community Event Facilities Study and to receive any additional feedback from the community at large.
This event will be hosted by Al Ross, host-producer of WHWC Arts and Culture Program of Spectrum West. Panelists will include Ben Richgruber, Eau Claire Regional Arts Council, Mike Rindo, UW-Eau Claire, and Linda John, Visit Eau Claire.
This forum will broadcast live on Wisconsin Public Radio's Ideas Network station 88.3 WHWC/Menomonie-Eau Claire. There will also be a live comment thread/discussion widget available at http://volumeone.org/eventcenter.

No Fooling, Pillow Fight to be Held Downtown
Bring your favorite pillow and get ready for some laughs as Volume One hosts its "five minutes of feathery fury." It's an annual April Fool's Day Pillow Fight held since 2006. It'll be on Sunday at 3 p.m. at the parking lot at the corner of Madison Street and Forest Street (across from the downtown Farmers' Market, in the Stella Blues parking lot). Get there early for pre-game festivities and events. Then, after the fight, there will be prizes for the following: * Best-Costumed Individual * Best-Costumed Team * Best Pillow Case

Friends of the Library Book Sale
The Friends of the Library will hold a book sale in the lower level of the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library in Eau Claire on Friday, March 30, and Saturday, March 31. The sale will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Choose from a wide variety of non-fiction, children's, adult fiction and young adult books. A Bag Sale on Saturday features discount pricing.
