Greetings!

As with many of you, my heart was broken for the people of Haiti as I saw them living in squalid conditions after the massive earthquake in January.  My sorrow for them turned to joy recently when I received word that ALL 31 families we met with have had new homes sponsored!  My heart is overwhemed with gratitude to you, our faithful partners.

Thank you for caring,

J Doug Stringer
THANK YOU!

The Larieux Family with their new home!
The Larieux Family

"Thank you" can not possibly express the gratitude of the first two Haitian families to receive their completed homes!

Pastor Dalexis and his family, as well as the Larieux family are no longer living in makeshift tents.  They now have a sturdy and secure place to call home.  While small, the homes provided are earthquake and hurricane resistant; and can be easily expanded as the families resources permit.

All 31 families listed on somebodycares.org have had homes sponsored thanks to faithful partners and Projecthulp Haiti. Somebody Cares representatives in Haiti are busy working to get homes to the rest of the families.

Pastor Dalexis and family with new home!

Please continue to pray for this process as building in Haiti presents many challenges from inclement weather to building supply shortages.

As we rejoice over the provision of God for these families; we continue to seek ways to assist thousands of other Haitians still struggling to survive after January's massive earthquake.

Somebody Cares can only do what faithful partners allow through financial gifts.  We are in need of financial contributions now to continue ministering to the hurting in the United States and around the world.  We would be honored to carefully steward your gifts to be a tangible expression of God's love to those in need. Your Gifts Are Appreciated!

Back to School in Haiti

Children in Haiti hope to return to school soon
Haitian child
In October children across Haiti hope to return to school for the first time since the quake.  However, many of the schools lack funding to open.  Somebody Cares is hoping to raise sponsorships for partnering Haitian Church schools.

The Somebody Cares network of churches in Haiti is responsible for the education of over 2,000 children.  The schools provide quality education including instruction in Bible, a hot meal, and uniforms.  A mere $360, or $30 a month can send a Haitian child to school, and provide jobs once again to their teachers!

Will you join us in providing a Christian education to children in Haiti?  Will you help our brothers and sisters in Christ go back to work at the schools so they can provide for their families?    The need is urgent, without funding now schools will remain closed.

As children in your neighborhood head off the classes, please pray for the children of Haiti.  And consider providing a good education to one child through a special gift of $360, or monthly commitment of $30, to Somebody Cares today!

Will you give now?

Thank you for your partnership and prayers!

Your continued support of Somebody Cares will allow us to meet the needs of Haiti and beyond.

Sincerely,
