Meet The Renlien Family

Their Story: Mrs. Jesulia Renelien and her family lost their homes in the quake. Everyone survived but one of her children was injured. Now, all 14 of them are living together in a tent on her property. They are also sometimes able to stay in a neighbor's house.

Fortunately Jesulia did not lose her job. She is the cook for over 100 children that attend the school run by her church in Meyer. Jesulia is very involved in her church helping other women.

The Home of Hope would provide Jesulia and her family better protection from the elements as well as a secure place to leave the few possessions they still have.

A Heart to Heart on Haiti
You Can Change the Life of a Family

The Larieux Family is waiting for a home!

This most recent trip to Haiti was both heartbreaking and heart-warming at the same time. Heartbreaking because 1.2 million people still live in tent cities; many others live in tents on their own property.  Heart-warming because of the resilience of the human spirit evident in the Haitian people.  Those in churches are pressing into the Lord and determined to see not just their own homes, but their nation rebuilt and restored.  In fact, they are believing that out of this tragedy, a new Haiti will emerge - a Haiti who puts her trust in the Lord!

Along with the desperate need for suitable housing is an equally desperate need for employment. Since the earthquake it is estimated as many as 80-90 percent of the population is unemployed.

Where do you and I fit in the overall process? We have the opportunity of making a vital difference in many lives. Specifically for 31 prescreened families we have identified through local pastors.  These families lost their homes and many lost their jobs due to the quake.  They live in tents and are struggling to care for themselves and stay healthy in the midst of the chaos.  But we can provide each of these families a starter home that is secure and protects them from the harsh elements.

You may think 31 families is  a small number in the midst of such vast need.  Yet to each of these families, it means everything.  I can only imagine the desperation they must feel.  I saw it on their faces.  I heard it from their pastors as they candidly asked, will Somebody Cares be able to help?

Our answer was to let them know we would get the word out and ask people, like you, to consider helping.  Would you?

You and I can provide homes for Haitian families for just $1200 a home!
