Greetings!

The transitions from 2009 and the first part of 2010 have been quite interesting to say the least...as I'm sure you know too well.  As the saying goes, "These are the best of times and the worst of times."

THE WORST OF TIMES

These are the worst of times because of what seem to be daily occurrences of every type of crisis, from natural disasters-floods, tornadoes, and earthquakes-to major political and social setbacks. When I sent out my article called "The Whole Earth Shakes and Groans with Birthpangs" back in March via email, within minutes of sending it, we began getting requests to forward it from individuals and organizations all around the globe. We've seen it re-published and posted on other websites. Obviously, the message is one that resonates in many hearts and minds because of the challenges of this day.

THE BEST OF TIMES

Yet these are also the best of times because of the doors of opportunity these situations open for the Good News of the Gospel.

I am reminded by the Scriptures that days like the ones in which we live are not the time for us to draw back in fear or perplexity. We are instead, to seize them as an occasion for our testimony. Jesus said in Luke 21:13, "But, let this be an occasion (or opportunity) for your testimony."  In Matthew 5:16,  He tells us to let our lights shine in such a way before men that they may see our good works, so as to bring glory to our Father in heaven.

DOORS OF OPPORTUNITY

The doors of opportunity the Lord is opening for this ministry have never been greater.

Though giving is down, we continue to press forward as we prayerfully answer the Macedonia calls God brings our way, even when it means personal sacrifice.  At this writing, I am preparing to leave for the Middle East to minister to our Persian brothers and sisters, who daily risk their lives to serve the Lord

In June, we are traveling to Haiti to host a Persevering Leadership conference for the pastors in the tiny impoverished country that deals now daily with the overwhelming hardships of rebuilding not only homes, but lives. We still need funds for that ministry time.

In addition, we are also scheduled nationally to minister this year in Kentucky,  Massachusetts and throughout Texas.

I serve on the International Advisory Board for Policy Makers and Leadership for the Geneva Institute. I'm currently scheduled to be in Switzerland for a strategic conference with policy makers and world leaders from various nations. Additional invitations have been accepted in Brazil, Dominican Republic, and Ecuador, as well as several invitations still under consideration.

As a top economist once said, "A crisis is a terrible thing to waste." At Somebody Cares, we want nothing more than to continue bringing hope to the world in the midst of these uncertainties and global challenges.  My biggest fear is that I would have to turn down or even cancel one or more of these invitations. At this point there are some trips I will simply not be able to take without some significant assistance toward the travel and other ministry expenses.

A HUMBLE REQUEST

I humbly ask if you would prayerfully consider sending a contribution to the ministry at this crucial time.  We urgently need a significant influx of funding to meet our current commitments and to continue going to places that are unable to pay for us to come.  Additional funds are needed to provide these precious people with spiritual resources such as books and CDs so the Lord can continue to minister to them once we have gone.

You can send a check made payable to "Somebody Cares" to PO Box 570007, Houston, TX 77257; or donate online at www.somebodycares.org.

Your seed, we promise, will be sown into the good soil of souls!

May the Lord of the Harvest reward you greatly for your faithfulness to me, to the ministry, and first and foremost to Himself.

As always, thank you for caring!
