Somebody Cares
Praying for our Nation
Somebody Cares chapters and partners across the nation are participating, as usual, in National Day of Prayer gatherings to lift up the needs of their communities and our nation. But in light of recent attacks from government officials, the significance of this year's events is unprecedented.
"May tens of thousands gather at city halls across the nation this upcoming National Day of Prayer," said Doug Stringer, founder of Somebody Cares America. "As you know, a rogue federal judge has ruled that the NDP is unconstitutional. May we go to our knees in humble intercession. By not exercising our God given and Constitutional Right to Freedom of Religion and Freedom of Speech, we abdicate our rights by indecision and default."
Buddy Hicks and Somebody Cares Humble TX are spearheading the second annual National Day of Prayer at the Humble Civic Center with a continental breakfast followed by numerous civic leaders, businessmen, and pastors leading in prayer.
"In light of the judge's ruling, this year's observance of the National Day of Prayer takes on new meaning for all Christians," Buddy said in a message to members of the Northeast Ministerial Alliance. "This is just another reason that the Body of Christ needs to gather and seek God for His strategy on raising up a standard of righteousness in our land."
The National Day of Prayer Task Force encourages local NDOP coordinators to communicate not only the need for personal repentance and prayer, but also mobilizing the Christian community to intercede for America and its leadership in the seven centers of power: Government, Military, Media, Business, Education, Church, and Family.
In Clearwater FL, Somebody Cares Tampa Bay is coordinating 50 churches who are working together to fill Bright House Network Field (spring training home of the Philadelphia Phillies) for a time of prayer followed by a youth concert. Somebody Cares New England is partnering with Common Ground Ministries for prayer, worship, and teaching in downtown Haverhill MA. And in Houston, Doug Stringer will be among local church leaders praying at City Hall.
We encourage you to participate in your local National Day of Prayer event. By that you are showing your community that Somebody Cares.
