SWISH IS A FREE SEVEN-WEEK WORKSHOP in three sessions taking place between June 16 and August 4 that will provide fiction writers information, feedback, and support. It's produced by the FWA St. Petersburg Writers Group. Details... FWF CELEBRITY WORKSHOP & FUNDRAISER. British thriller writer R.J. Ellory will share secrets of success with you at a daylong workshop sponsored by the Florida Writers Foundation. Immediately preceding the 11th Annual Florida Writers Conference, Writing Wrongs: A Workshop on Crime Fiction & Thrillers" will be held 9 AM to 5 PM, October 18, 2012, at the Orlando Marriott Lake. NEW! THE KAYE COPPERSMITH AWARD. Kaye Coppersmith, an FWA Regional Director, the creator of FWA's Editing Service, and editor and mentor to hundreds of writers across the state passed away suddenly in April. In her honor, the Board of Directors of FWA has created the Kaye Coppersmith Award, to be given annually to one deserving member at the conference. All FWA members are eligible to nominate someone or receive the award. Details...
WELCOME DOUG HOUCK as FWA's newest Writers Group Leader. Doug teaches English and Writing Courses at Edison State College and Barry University, has published six book and worked on editing Writing Our History: One Writer At a Time, a ten year history of The Florida Writers Association. His Peace River Writers Group meets in Punta Gorda.
