FLORIDA WRITERS FOUNDATION NEWS

The Sleepover Surprise, a children's picture book written by FWA member, Mims Cushing  and illustrated by Alan Phillips of Jacksonville, Florida, was chosen by The Kiwanis Club of Sunshine City, St. Petersburg, Florida to give to children at Woodlawn Elementary School in St. Petersburg, Florida. Kiwanis volunteers will read the book to youngsters in several classes and then present Cushing's book to each child.

The Kiwanis purchased 95 of Cushing's books through a grant from the Florida Writers Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization established to promote literacy and enhance writing skills in children, youth, and adults.
