Conference Highlights
|
| A BAZILLION AGENTS AND PUBLISHERS AT THIS YEAR'S CONFERENCE. Conference. Okay, maybe that's an exaggeration, but you should be able to find your agent and meet your publisher at the 2011 FWA annual conference October 21-23, 2011, at the Orlando Marriott Lake Mary. Check out who'll be there and what they're looking for...
FWF SILENT AUCTION. Sure, you go to the conference to hobnob with agents, publishers, industry professionals, and other writers, as well as get the industry skinny during the workshops.
But did you know that while you're getting all this work done, you can also do some holiday shopping? The Florida Writers Foundation, Inc., is sponsoring a Silent Auction during the conference to raise money in support of literacy. Talk about win-win: you support a good cause and get your shopping done. At bargain prices. As with the proverbial box of chocolates, you never know what you'll get. Click to read more...

The 10th Annual Florida Writers Conference is open to registrations. Sign up early for the best price! Check out the conference brochure. |

Volunteer Power
|
| WITH FONDNESS, MANY THANKS TO DAHRIS CLAIR as she steps away from her role as leader of the New Port Richey/Pasco County writers group. Under her stellar leadership, the annual Do It! Write one-day writers conference and it's complementary event, a literary competition were created and produced with much success.
Now FWA looks for a successor to take the reins from Dahris. She writes, "Everything is in place for the person(s) who will carry the torch. The library is willing, and I am more than willing to share my records with whomever wishes to take over the job I've loved. All it takes is an email to get started on a satisfying journey of your own."
WRITERS GROUP LEADERS are needed as FWA continues to grow to meet the needs of writers across the state. Contact Jackie Fullerton if you're interested in leading a group in any of the following areas:
Southeast Region: Miami, Miami Beach, South Dade, Aventura, Coral Gables, Ft. Lauderdale, Pembroke Pines/Miramar, Coral Springs/Parkland; Alachua Region: Alachua, Bradford, Union, Gilcrest; Northeast Region: Nassau, St. Johns; Tallahassee Region: Calhoun, Franklin, Jefferson, Leon, Taylor; Volusia Region: Flagler, Putnam. A LIAISON AT THE STATE LEVEL is needed to help Writers Group Leaders organize mini-conferences. Contact Chrissy Jackson.
LET'S ALL WELCOME ANN SUAREZ as our Assistant Secretary, reporting to Elaine Senecal, and primarily responsible for sending out membership cards and letters.
