Dear Laughter Friends,
With the laughter yoga leader training coming up in May, we're really excited to teach about the many many many benefits of simple, easy laughter! We're compiling new articles and research almost daily for the DVDs, manuals and handouts. The weekend will be full of relaxation, boosted energy, laughter and learning. Come join us! Plus, if you bring a friend, both of you receive 25% off of your tuition.
Leigh has been chosen to be a presenter at the annual All America Laughter Yoga Conference in September in San Diego, CA. She's presenting on marketing your laughter yoga club. What an honor!
We're starting a new laughter club in Charlottesville at the Gordon Avenue Library on Saturdays from 10:15 - 11:30 a.m. Classes will include everything in a typical laughter yoga session -- adding a brief educational component about laughter and some rhythmic HO HO HA HA dancing. This is a public space, so we'll keep you updated if another program takes precedence over our class. Cost is by donation!
Lately I've been using laughter meditations as a way to let go of egoic thinking, or my ego in general. Because I've practiced no longer needing a reason to laugh, I can access mirth whenever I choose. I use laughter to meditate on a deeper level - replacing how I used to "meditate" (thinking myself into not thinking). Everyone, everywhere who can laugh can easily access the same thing - that's the unique, potent aspect of laughter yoga. We'll explore this liberating laughter at the May retreat during morning meditations. Hope to see you there!
Laughlovepeace,
Leigh (and Jon) |
| | In this workshop, we'll watch clips from the movie, Anatomy of An Illness, about Dr. Norman Cousins, who deliberately used humor to recover from a life-threatening tissue disease. Continuing with the latest publications, Leigh will share how prolonged laughter triggers the release of endorphins, the body's natural painkillers, along with a cascade of antidepressants and mood stabilizers. Following group discussion, Leigh will lead a typical Laughter Yoga session. The workshop will end with easy, relaxing silent meditation. $10. Open to the public. Please register by calling RAC in Richmond, VIRGINIA @ (804) 355-4311 or emailing info@rac4health.com. | |
