Pink Cross Foundation Newsletter

At this time, we are in URGENT NEED of financial support. We have the 2011 Adult Entertainment Expo outreach coming up, and our funds are severely depleted. We need $10,000 this month to pay for outreaches and for Pink Cross operations. Expenses include the ministry booth, hotel and travel expenses for our missionaries, and donations of gospel tracts, Bibles, Cds, books, beauty supplies, and other items for goody bags.
We are also still sending out Christmas boxes to women trapped in the sex industry. We need your help so that we can send Shelley's book, "Truth Behind the Fantasy of Porn", to women all over the world and women right here in California who are trapped in porn. Shelley's book literally teaches them how to get out, stay out and live powerfully. Sex workers keep asking her for her book and she gives it as a gift to them so let's support Shelley so she can keep giving those books away! More and more women are coming to us for help.
Also, the Lubben family is in desperate need of a building so that they can get the porn fight OUT of their house. If you are in the Bakersfield area and can donate a building or can give a generous donation at this time, please prayerfully consider doing so.

HIV and Herpes Infected Porn Stars Talk
Ann was diagnosed with HIV after making a porn movie in 1998. Known as porn star Brooke Ashley, she also contracted Herpes, HPV and Hep C during her porn career.
Today she suffers with AIDS and the long term effects of sexually transmitted diseases. Ann is an AIDS survivor.
Shelley was diagnosed with Herpes and HPV after her last gangbang movie in 1994. Known as porn star Roxy who worked in porn between the years of 1993-1994, she later developed cervical cancer and had half of her cervix removed. Shelley is a cancer survivor.
Ann and Shelley have courageously joined forces to tell the hardcore truth about porn.

Porn Clinic Shut Down
Former porn actresses from Pink Cross as well as former HIV+ performers have been speaking out courageously and it seems state officals are finally listening! This is a HUGE win against the illegally operating and fraudulent porn clinic (AIM) where mostly young women and men are tested for STDs and offered limited care by a fradulent "Doctor" Sharon Mitchell who makes false promises, "We keep the adult entertainment industry safe." "Doctor" Sharon Mitchell does NOT have a medical degree but walks around in a white lab coat offering a false sense of security to young and naive porn stars. She blatantly admits on her web site:
"Basically, I put Band-Aids on shotgun wounds all day."
She also says, "We deal with everyday with Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Hepatitis all types, A, B, and C. We deal with Gonorrhea of the throat. We deal with things you can't possibly imagine that are not normally a sexually transmitted disease that are a sexually transmitted disease in porn." Video here.
But former porn actresses are fighting back and sharing their painful stories about the TRUTH about the hazardous work conditions and the rampant sexually transmitted diseases they were subjected to while on the porn set. HIV, Herpes, Hep C, Chlaymida, Gonorrhea, and HPV, which leads to cervical cancer.
It can also lead to death. Over 100 porn performers have died from AIDS.

For years, the Pink Cross has been speaking the truth about the rampant STDs and violence against women in the porn industry which has all happened under the watch and care of this 'clinic' which is run by the industry itself!
In September, 2009, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health reported 2,396 cases of Chlamydia, 1,389 cases of gonorrhea, and five syphilis cases among porn performers. It was also reported that Chlamydia and gonorrhea prevalence in porn performers is ten times higher than that of Los Angeles County 20-24 year olds and five times higher than that of one of Los Angeles County's highest risk populations. Just recently, another porn performer was tested and found to be HIV positive which adds to the previous 25 cases of HIV that were reported by Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation (AIM) since 2004.
Thanks to your prayers and support, we see the authorities doing something about it. Please continue to pray that the fraudulent clinic will remain closed. Please also pray the modern day porn slave trade will be wiped off the face of the earth and that God continue to rescue and heal the lives of those trapped in porn.

4th Annual Christmas Porn Star Outreach

Our 4th Annual Christmas Porn Star Outreach was a huge success. Thanks to all of your generous donations, over 50 gift boxes were shipped across the country to hurting and lonely ex-pornstars and those struggling to leave porn. This was definitely our most successful and eventful outreach ever, and we cannot thank you enough for your generous donations and your prayers.
Five ex-pornstars from across the country gathered together in one place to fill beautiful gift boxes with Bibles, books, DVDs, bath and beauty supplies, jewelry, festive Christmas candles, chocolate treats, and of course Shelley's book, 'Truth Behind the Fantasy of Porn', which she personally signed with her own special message of love and encouragement. Team member Heather personally knitted gorgeous pink and white scarves to put in the gift boxes, and there were even some baby scarves and DVDs for the children. Even Howard Stern received a handmade scarf and gift box!
As Shelley signed each and every book, Ann Marie Ballowe made out lovely Christmas cards for each special recipient, while Melanie, Jan, April, and Maddie filled the boxes to practically overflowing. One of the things that made this outreach so special was that most of the girls who packed the boxes were actually recipients of these gift boxes in the past. It was a wonderful reminder of what God brought us out of, and how far we have come. Shelley's husband, Garrett, even baked delicious homemade goodies for the occasion.
During the outreach, Shelley recorded video updates of Madelyne and Ann Marie, and all 5 porn stars gathered together to sign a "Proclamation of Emancipation," declaring freedom for themselves and everyone else still trapped in porn, and an all-out war on the industry itself. It was a powerful and historic event, as each woman opened up about the personal abuses and secondary negative effects that she experienced, while signing a document demanding that the industry be shut down.
We are confident that the impact of this year's Christmas Outreach will continue for years to come. Only through your generous donations was this event even possible. So many people were blessed this year, and many more lives will be impacted through the videos and the truth that went forth. We at the Pink Cross thank you, and wish you and yours a very merry Christmas.

How to Pray for Shelley and Her Family and Pink Cross Missionaries
Pray for us as the spiritual battle continues to intensify.
Shelley and her family receive death threats and have also recently had identity theft. Our websites and emails are being spammed with porn robots. An array of computer problems and failures have hampered online communications.
Shelley's Facebook profile has been disabled as well. Facebook friends were her best support for Pink Cross and now it's been disabled and we have a HUGE convention coming up and we really need people to continue to give. She wants her Facebook friends to know she did not delete them! It was an attack on her!

Jesus Swoops Down On Howard Stern: Porn Star Turned Reformer Visits
Monday, Nov. 8, Shelley Lubben visited the Howard Stern radio program to share her amazing testimony and dispell the destructive myths that porn is glamorous and porn stars love what they are doing. For almost 30 minutes, Shelley talked candidly about her life of prostitution, sexual abuse, homelessness, STDs, suicide attempts, and life after porn. For Shelley, it wasn't just about dispelling the fantasy behind porn, but about proclaiming the healing power of Jesus Christ in her life.
Howard and Robin listened intently to everything that Shelley said, including the horrific details of her contracting herpes and cervical cancer. They were clearly shocked at what she revealed. Towards the end, Howard commented "You're lucky to be alive, aren't you?" to which Shelley replied "Thank God through Jesus Christ that I didn't die."
They agreed with Shelley that the porn stars who visit their studio are "full of it" and do not enjoy making porn. In talking about 2 porn stars who recently visited the studio, Howard said "They had me convinced that they really loved sex and loved this lifestyle." Shelley explained that porn stars are constantly trying to prove themselves, and are caught up in this lifestyle that, in reality, they do not enjoy.
Howard was clearly inspired by Shelley's story, and expressed how happy he was that she had turned her life around. When asked about her marriage and her sex life with Garrett, Shelley explained how the two of them invite God into their sex life. This clearly piqued Howard's interest, to which Shelley replied "Porn sex is violent and horrible - marriage sex is hot and beautiful. God blesses our sex life."
Howard admitted that pornography destroys relationships. "If you are in a relationship, it (porn) does take you out of the relationship." Howard and Robin not only heard Shelley's message, but clearly received it as well. They were very receptive to everything that she said, and Shelley continually brought it back to God and His sustaining and healing power in her life. "God is practical," she told them. "God's wisdom in the word is what taught me how to live."
For the gospel message to be preached so boldly on a show that openly promotes pornography can only be a work of the Holy Spirit. Shelley will continue to reach out to Howard and his staff in the future, but the impression that she left through her testimony and the truth she laid out was powerful. In the wrap-up segment, the reporter referred to Shelley's work as "evangelism against porn," and even said that she brought Jesus into the studio.

Chapter 24: Building a Champion Mind
I found rest in God's gentle arms during those peaceful hours on the beach. Proving to me His personal and great love for me, I began to understand what a Father's love truly was. Unlike my earthly father who was too busy, God was available, tender and concerned with every detail in my life. Finally, I received the attention and approval I always needed. Sad that I missed out on a relationship with God in the past, I recounted the wasted years I looked for approval from men in stripping, prostitution and porn.
What a waste of eight years, I miserably thought as I tossed down a cracked shell to the ground.
But God answered and promised me back, "Shelley, I promise you that not one ounce of your pain will be wasted. I have a powerful plan for your life and will use all of your suffering to help others someday." I held onto His promise.

About Shelley
 Shelley Lynn Lubben, born on the heels of revolution on May 18, 1968, is one of the world's leading advocates in the antipornography movement.
