Hired Power News!  Much to be Thankful about! November, 2007
Dear Friends and Professionals,

In the past 4 years Hired Power Inc. has been on the ground running, full steam ahead, meeting with treatment facilities, developing an exceptional Personal Recovery Assistant team, strategizing with professionals in the mental health and addiction recovery services profession, participating in conferences, applying our intervention skills, and establishing relationships with our referents, clients, and their families.   During this time, we have been working to provide awareness to our industry on the necessary and successful services the Personal Recovery Assistant can provide in long-term recovery, and now we are beginning to see the fruits of our labor.

Though not all media attention is good attention, we are grateful for the awareness of our services the media has provided.  We have seen the terms 'sober-companion' and 'sober-buddy' strewn across a variety of media outlets with thanks to the onslaught of media attention given to entertainers and professional athletes currently under the care of sober-companions.  Personal Recovery Assistant services are now undergoing the media's scrupulous eye.   As Hired Power has always been committed to providing PRA's with the highest forms of professionalism, education, experience, and certification - now we find ourselves in the position of  establishing the standards of excellence for PRA's as a certifiable and accountable service among the addiction and mental health profession.

We are excited about the future of our services and are looking forward to establishing long-lasting successful relationships with our peers in the mental health and addiction recovery profession.  We trust that together, as a united team working toward the goal of long-term recovery for those who need us, that we will make a difference in the health and well-being of our world.  We are grateful for each new day that we are allowed to participate in the life of someone's recovery, and we are grateful each day for the dedicated and committed professionals and families who give from their hearts and trust us to come alongside them during these critical life transitions.

With Hope and Promise!

Your Allie in Good Health,

Nanette Zumwalt Hired Power

Moments of Change Conference
October 1-3, 2007 the Hired Power staff spent time at the Moments of Change conference in Palm Beach, Florida to support and sponsor the continued education of intervention approaches.  We had the opportunity to meet with some of the pioneers of intervention models and systems that are being practiced throughout the profession with much success.

Dr. Stephen SideroffWe were pleased to meet with Dr. Stephen Sideroff, the Clinical Director of Moonview Sanctuary.  He is an internationally recognized expert in behavioral medicine, biofeedback and peak performance,  and applies his expertise in consulting for collegiate and professional atheletes and sports teams.  He is pioneering change in the emotional and mental health and stability of athletes around the world, teaching them that their emotional well-being is as vital as their physical well-being.  With this kind of pioneer approach, perhaps we'll begin seeing fewer atheletes covering up their emotional and physical injuries with alternative drugs.  Check out Dr. Sideroff's recent article published in Sport's Business Journal

Athlete's emotional health as vital as physical well-being.......

Safe Passage BridgeProviding Safe Passage
provides safe passages and mentoring for addicts in transition.  Recent news has brought attention to the tragic consequences that addicts and families can face when trying to get themselves or their loved ones to a safe supportive environment. The tragic death of a woman who died at Phoenix airport on her way to Rehab makes the news and causes us much grief, and reminds us of why we continue to earnestly provide intensive services for addicts in transition, to and from treatment.  People are very vulnerable during times of transition, navigating situations such as travel can be overwhelming.  Our hope is that nothing like the story of Carol Gotbaum ever has to happen to another family.  Hired Power's team has over 25 years of collective experience in helping people struggling with addiction and mental health issues. We provide Certified Personal Recovery Assistants to mentor one on one under the direction of a clinical team. Our PRA service sets the standard for supporting individuals both in transition and returning home to build a lifestyle of recovery. We are committed to creating awareness of these services to individuals, professionals and families across the country and internationally, in hopes of NEVER having to read another story like Carol's in the news again!

Certified Personal Recovery Assistant

A Certified Personal Recovery Assistant is a professional individual who is qualified to provide guidance, support and mentoring to people struggling with addiction and mental health issues, in the home or on the road. This certification was created to address the growing concern around the need to distinguish between a professional service and individuals offering similar services. Click here for more information on CPRA services or how to become a Hired Power CPRA.
