AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:
Auditions are

the schedule to audition. Be prepared to stay for the entire allotted
time. Each person will sing by themselves, then dance and read from the
script. Singing: Please
prepare a one minute song, preferably not from the show. Bring either a
CD (with music only, no vocals) or sheet music in the proper key (NO á cappella, please). An
accompanist will be provided. For more details on the singing audition
requirements for specific roles, please see SINGING AUDITION DETAILS
below. Dancing: Bring
comfortable clothes and shoes that you can dance in (NO sandals or flip flops or bare
feet for dancing!). Acting: We
will
have cold readings from the script. If you are not reading yet,
please memorize a story or poem to say out loud. It should last 1
minute or less. Administrative: Please
be
prepared to write down all of your conflicts with the rehearsal
schedule at the auditions. We will also want to know which part(s) you
are interested in, if there are any parts you will not accept, and if
you would take a part as an ensemble member. Please be honest. No appointment necessary. There is NO PAY.
SINGING AUDITION DETAILS:
Please bring about 1 minute of a song (preferably not from the show).
Please take note of the additional requirements for those auditioning
for specific roles:
- If you are
interested in auditioning for the Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion or The Wiz,
please make sure your song is close to the style of the show, as they
have specific types of solos they sing (R&B, Pop, or Gospel
suggested. Does not have to be from a musical. May sing from the show
if desired).
- Anyone
auditioning for Dorothy should sing a song that shows a high belting
range.
- Anyone
wanting to be considered for Evillene AND another role should prepare
two song selections – one that shows the gospel/belt range and one more
appropriate to the other characters you wish to be considered for. If
only auditioning for Evillene, please prepare one selection as
described
above.
