Energy Project Map Now Available from SBS


Strategic Biomass Solutions, a program of the Mississippi Technology Alliance, has unveiled a new map that shows the location and description of more than 100 renewable energy projects in the state - biomass, solar energy and energy efficiency.

It is intended for entrepreneurs, investors, economic developers, policy makers and energy-related companies interested in locating in Mississippi.

US Gasoline Starts Long-term Decline

After seven decades of mostly uninterrupted growth, U.S. gasoline demand is at the start of a long-term decline.  By 2030, Americans will burn at least 20% less gasoline than today even as 27 million more cars clog the roads.

Biodiesel Incentive Reinstated in Tax Bill

By a vote of 277 to 148, the U.S. House of Representatives extended tax cuts, continued unemployment benefits and renewed some of the Alternative Energy incentives. In particular, the biodiesel and renewable diesel tax credit, which lapsed at the end of 2009, will be retroactively reinstated through 2011.

The Nissan Leaf's battery performance has been evaluated by the EPA at 73 miles, but company officials say that the driving range will depend on the user's driving habits and will usually get over 100 miles.
