Our Family Farms

New Venture Center Tenant: Our Family Farms

Our Family Farms is a local cooperative of farmers providing fresh, local milk since September 1997. Our Family Farms was created so that farmers would receive a fair price for their milk.

Our Family Farms recently rebranded their business and created all new business cards, a new website, and new point-of-sale signs for a more professional look. They also have a blog and a facebook page. They are currently expanding milk sales into the metropolitan Boston community.

CDC Spotlight:

Pro-Tech Automotive

Pro-Tech Automotive opened its doors at 184 French King Highway in Greenfield in 2002. Don Claine is the owner and Aaron Baker is the manager. Together Claine and Baker have more than 40 years of automotive service experience. Pro-Tech Automotive is a full-service auto repair shop for domestic and international cars and trucks. Claine said his shop provides honest service at a fair price.

Claine got a loan from the bank but it did not fully cover the start up costs so he worked with the CDC to get a loan to bridge the gap. "I wouldn't be here if it weren't for that loan. It helped an awful lot," said Claine.

Extended Season Project Receives National Grant

Since 2001, the Food Processing Center has helped growers and food entrepreneurs add value to food grown in our region. In 2009 the FPC launched the Extended Season program in order to freeze and jar fruits and vegetables to make local food accessible year-round.

On July 14, 2011, the Wallace Center announced that it has awarded $50,000 over 2 years to the FCCDC to help improve vegetable processing and distribution options that are scale appropriate. This grant will enable the Western MA Food Processing Center to expand the amount of vegetables we process and get into schools so children have healthier options.
