Waterville Senior High School Prom
Preparations are well underway for a grand evening on May 21 for local students attending the 2011 Waterville Senior High School Prom at the Hathaway Creative Center. We wish you a safe and joyous evening on this special occasion!
WDC Meeting Held at Hathaway
A Waterville Development Corporation meeting was held May 10 in the magnificent Hathaway Creative Center "Empire Falls" Conference Room overlooking the Kennebec River from the new Cengage offices. The WDC mission is to actively promote the creation of new, permanent jobs, through the development of facilities and properties (real estate) to house new or expanded business operations. Third Annual Kids With Cameras Exhibit Display a Marvel!
The Third Annual Kids with Cameras photography contest exhibit public display of over 150 photos from area youth, held on the afternoons of April 14-17 and sponsored by the Waterville Boys and Girls Club/YMCA, was enjoyed by many on the first floor in the Hathaway retail marketplace corridor. An elegant wine tasting with hors d'oeuvres followed by a fundraising live auction of the children's photographs on exhibit also took place the evening of April 15. Cengage Learning Arrives in Style
The Thorndike Press office of Cengage Learning (pictured upper left), with 35 employees, moved into the Hathaway Creative Center in April, leasing a 9,000 square feet space! Thorndike is the world's leading publisher of large print books, offering the biggest collection of large print titles, including thousands of award-winning, bestselling, popular and classic fiction and nonfiction titles. They publish more current New York Times bestsellers and bestselling authors in large print than any other large print publisher and over 115 a year are published simultaneously with the regular print editions. "We are so pleased that the Thorndike office of Cengage Learning joined us at the Hathaway," says HCC developer/owner Paul Boghossian. "They are a good fit, and we are happy that we are able to build out space for new corporate and retail tenants that so fully meets their needs and on a 90-day timeline that offers a quick move-in opportunity." |
