Chamber Open House - Business Forum was a Success!!
Thank you to all the business people who participated in our economic development survey and the Open House on Monday June 21.  It was such a success we plan to hold additional forums in the fall.  We are commited to hear your concerns and ideas.
Our President Schaun Goodeve presented a summary of our Chamber activities for this year followed by a presentation of the survey results.  Director Ingrid Liepa facilitated the interactive session and participants then gathered into smaller groups to discuss the survey results and posted "Fruits for thought on our "trees".  Overwhelmingly, it was agreed that the survey results accurately reflected the issues of importance to our local business people.  A cohesive economic development plan, a comprehensive marketing plan, cohesive community branding strategy, increasing the attractiveness of our community, a shop local campaign and better communication and cooperation between businesses were priorities that you identified.
The group then looked at ways to bulid a strong foundation for economic success in our community.  Strengths, weaknesses and brilliant opportunities were identified.  There is excitement building around our new Conference-Athlete Training Centre, broadband connectivity and Rails to Trails.  Kimberley has much to offer residents and Amenity Migrants who will add to uor economic and social vibrancy.
Look for details for our fall forum and plan not to let your voice be heard.  Without your input we cannot act!

The New Chamber Member Business Directory
Another great reason to join your Chamber today!

The 2010 Kimberley & District Chamber of Commerce Member Business Directory is set to be launched this Spring.  While Kimberley businesses and the Chamber are very much tuned into the "Internet Age", they recognize that there are many people who prefer to use more traditional print media for information.  The new Chamber Member Business Directory will be produced in a handy, portable format that will provide exposure for our members and ready access by everyone.
Member businesses will be grouped according to sector such as Retail, Trades, Spas & Wellness, Professional Services, etc. and each business will be assigned a code letter that will indicate their business area - eg. B for Blarchmont, P for Platzl. In addition to member business listings, the directory will include a section for attractions and festivals. The result will be a directory that will be valuable to local consumers, business people and visitors alike.

To be listed in the directory you must be a Chamber Member - It is one of the many benefits of Chamber membership.  Deadline for inclusion in the 2010 directory extended to June 30.  You can apply for membership today by calling (250) 427-3666, by visiting our website at www.kimberleychamber.com or dropping into our office at 270 Kimberley Avenue.
