Happy Hans Cuckoo Clock Needs YOU!
Did you know that our favorite Kimberley attraction is over 37 years old? Canada's largest cuckoo clock was built in September 1972 by Bill Spence and was designed by Dick Bova. In true down-home Kimberley Spirit, its inner workings were constructed from various "found objects" and recycled parts. On-the-hour or for a quarter, Happy Hans has entertained us with Adi Unterberger's distinctive "Glacier Yodel", but lately Happy has been in an early retirement mode. In spite of the countless volunteer hours invested by Juri Adank and others to get him operating, Happy is showing his age! It is time to revitalize our beloved icon ! The Chamber has just struck a committee to get Happy back on his feet and breathe new life into our old friend. Your participation is invited! We will need an industrial designer and/or engineer to design the inner workings. We will need machinists, electricians and possibly a millwright to build it. We will need craftsmen to redesign and update the exterior and most of all, we will need funds to make it happen. If you wish to become involved or can contribute in any way please contact us at 250-427-3666
