Scott Murray
Manufacturing Hope
5:00-6:00 p.m. November 19th
College of the Rockies, Cranbrook  - Lecture Theatre

Evidence suggests that finding ways to increase the supply of literacy and numeracy in the labour force
will be critical to allowing Canadians to compete in global markets and maintain our standard of living.
Scott Murray's engaging and accessible presentation will focus on:
· what we know about literacy skill shortages
· how these shortages are likely to grow over the coming decade,
· what it would take to eliminate these shortages
· what the likely benefits would be, and finally, who should pay.
This presentation will be of interest to literacy practitioners, educators, politicians, government
policy makers, employers and individuals thinking about their future. Scott is a knowledgeable and compelling presenter on trends in Literacy who is known internationally as an expert in youth and adult literacy. He was
