Olympic Ambitions for Zoey

Zoey

A simple summer camp activity has spun into Olympic ambition for Junior Girl Scout Zoey Buntjer. Two summers ago Zoey discovered archery during her first Camp Foxtail adventure. Now at 10 years old, and with several Girl Scout archery programs under her belt, Zoey has taken up private lessons. Attending weekly lessons, Zoey is on the fast track to meeting requirements to begin competitive archery tournaments.

"I am so glad that Girl Scouts got me started on this great sport, and I cannot wait to go to the Olympics," she said.

Camp is the ultimate self-esteem builder where kids discover the "I Can Do Anything!" attitude. Zoey is true inspiration to that phrase - she set a goal and put her Olympic dreams into action. Zoey is just one of more than 500 girls who will discover their own abilities and enjoy the summer fun of being a kid! Read more on Zoey's story here!

Drop-in Center Youth Dine
Buca di Beppo
Style

Buca di Beppo served up some pasta and fun to more than 100 underprivileged Clark County students in coordination with the Girl Scouts.

On June 28, youth at the Vera B and Sherman Garden community centers participated in marinara finger-painting, meatball   putting and pizza dough tossing, followed by some yummy family-style Italian dishes. During the summer break, many of these youth rely on the Girl Scouts Drop-in center program for nutritious meals.

Scuba SCOUTS

More than 20 Junior, Cadette, Senior and Ambassador girls came together in June to learn all about the exciting sport of SCUBA! The girls worked with a certified scuba instructor to gain the basics in underwater diving. The best part, they got to simulate a real dive in the Sport Chalet pool!  Plus, have a blast playing underwater games and experimenting with underwater photography.
