Olympic Ambitions for Zoey

ZoeyA simple summer camp activity has spun into Olympic ambition for Junior Girl Scout Zoey Buntjer. Two summers ago Zoey discovered archery during her first Camp Foxtail adventure. Now at 10 years old, and with several Girl Scout archery programs under her belt, Zoey has taken up private lessons. Attending weekly lessons, Zoey is on the fast track to meeting requirements to begin competitive archery tournaments.

"I am so glad that Girl Scouts got me started on this great sport, and I cannot wait to go to the Olympics," she said.

Camp is the ultimate self-esteem builder where kids discover the "I Can Do Anything!" attitude. Zoey is true inspiration to that phrase - she set a goal and put her Olympic dreams into action. Zoey is just one of more than 500 girls who will discover their own abilities and enjoy the summer fun of being a kid!

Daisy Petal: Gloria's Petal - respect myself and others

Do you know what respect is? Do you know why it's important to respect yourself and others? Earn Gloria's petal and learn how to recognize symbols of respect and how to show respect for yourself and others.

To earn Gloria's petal, you must do all three activities:

  1. Read "Gloria's Story," then talk about it
  2. Invite and older Girl Scout to talk to your group about ways to respect yourself and others
  3. Practice respecting yourself and others

When you have earned Gloria's petal, you'll know how to show respect for yourself and others.

To get started on Gloria's petal, refer to your Daisy, Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting for Gloria's story and a complete list of activities (you must complete one activity from all three areas)
