Girl Scout Night with the Las Vegas 51s

 

More than 1,100 Girl Scouts, alumnae and friends of Girl Scouts gathered at Cashman Field on May 18 to celebrate 100 years of Girl Scouts of the USA. The nearly sold out stadium rooted on the 51s, who took to the field in Girl Scout inspired jerseys. More than $10,000 was raised to support leadership programs for girls in southern Nevada.

Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada honored 4 Ambassador Girl Scouts with the Gold Award during its 2012 Young Women of Distinction ceremony at The Orleans Hotel & Casino May 5. The Gold Award is Girl Scouts highest honor, and is an opportunity for a girl to put her leadership skills, career interests, and personal values together to serve her community. Gold Award recipients:

  • Jessica Joseph
  • Brittany Lesperance
  • Jordan Orris
  • Lillian Stolar

Counselor in Training I & II

 

When you guide people or teach them something you know, you're acting as a mentor. As an Ambassador, you have some  exciting opportunities to help younger Girl Scouts by sharing your skills, passions, and experience.

 

CIT

To earn this awards:  

  1. Mentor younger girls in a camp setting as you build skills toward becoming a camp counselor. To earn this award, complete these steps:
  2. Take a leadership course designed by your council on outdoor experiences.
  3. Work with younger girls over the course of a camp session.

CIT II

To earn this award:

  1. Earn your CIT I award.
  2. Work with younger girls over the course of at least one camp session while focused on increasing your skills in one specific area - such as archery, first-aid, or the arts.

Mystery at the Inn 

June 16, 2012 Girl w/ Magnifying Glass  

    

Jump into the role of a super sleuth and help solve the mystery at the inn! Partnering with Mystery Adventures of Las Vegas, Girl Scouts will become crime scene investigators for a day as they follow clues to various locations and solve the baffling mystery!

More than 150 girls shared their Girl Scout spirit during the Helldorado Parade on May 19. The Girl Scout float honored 100 years of Girl Scouting as girls had signs showing what their future leadership roles might look like.
