World Thinking Day
Each year on February 22, World Thinking Day, girls participate in activities and projects with global themes to honor their sister Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in other countries. World Thinking Day not only gives girls a chance to celebrate international friendships, but is also a reminder that Girl Scouts of the USA is part of a global community-one of nearly 150 countries with Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
The theme for World Thinking Day 2012 is girls worldwide say "we can save our planet." Your Girl Scout Ambassador can participate in this global holiday by earning the official award here.

Rock the Dam with Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada! Join us for a symbolical bridging across Hoover Dam as we honor the past and welcome the next century of Girl Scouting. Rock the Dam, commemorates the historical beginnings of Girl Scouts in Southern Nevada by gathering where it all started in 1932 with 22 girls in Boulder City.
Participants will kick off the celebration in one of ten designated decade areas that reflect an era of Girl Scout history. Girls, alumnae, and volunteers will celebrate 100 years of Girl Scouting by exchanging S.W.A.P.S. they create to represent one of these decades. Click here for more information.

Ambassador Journey: Justice
On this journey to JUSTICE, Ambassadors have the opportunity to earn the prestigious Sage Award by participating in activities in the six steps to understanding environmental justice. The Sage Award takes its name from the word meaning wise person (from the Latin root sapere, to be wise) and the medicinal herb (from the Latin root salvare, to heal or to save). The award represents both the commitment and ability to be judicious, and it reminds us of the importance of healing.
While earning the Sage Award, girls explore justice (and injustice) from many angles including science, decision making and even doing a little math! Ultimately Ambassadors create and present their own unique definitions for Justice!

Volunteer Recognition Nominations
Due March 9, 2012
Volunteers are the lifeblood of all non-profit organizations, and Girl Scouts is no different. Each year we recognize our hardworking volunteers at the Annual Meeting & Adult Recognitions Luncheon. This year we are celebrating 100 years of Girl Scouting on Saturday, April 21 at the Orleans Hotel & Casino. Nominations for council level award recipients are due March 9.
Throughout the year, each service unit plans its own award recognition event and honors an Outstanding Leader, the Outstanding Volunteer, the Leadership Development Pin, the 3 Years of Service and the 5 & 10 year membership numerals. Nomination forms must be turned in one month before the planned awards event.
Visit girlscoutsnv.org for guidelines and applications. Please pay special attention to listed requirements and the number of nominations and endorsement letters required for each award.
