Financial Literacy Badge:
Research & Development
One of the most important parts of any well-run business is research and development. Businesses use research and development to plan for the future. They spend time and money researching new ideas. They also budget for development - taking those new ideas, refining them, and bringing them to market. Cookie season is the perfect time to earn your Research and Development badge and take your cookie business to the next level!
The Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting can help you earn your financial literacy badge by following these 5 steps:
- Analyze sales trends
- Research how other companies innovate
- Find out how companies use R&D to improve their products
- Explore possible projects during your cookie sale
- Develop a fun, new way to use Girl Scout Cookies
When you have earned this badge, you'll know how to research and develop new ways to build your cookie business! Get started on your Research and Development badge today - refer to your Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting for complete instructions and activities.

Starting February 7
Put on some warm gear and head on down to the Girl Scout Leadership Center to gain some smarts in archery. Choose one or all dates for a lesson with a certified National Archery in the Schools Program trainer. This Olympic sport is for everyone, regardless of a girl's size and physical ability. Archery teaches success and offers a lifetime of enjoyment. Special thanks to the Easton Foundation for their donation of new archery equipment.
Ambassador Learning Opportunities
|2012 is the Year of the Girl|
In a move designed to focus national attention on girls and the issues they face, Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) has declared 2012 the Year of the Girl
: a celebration of girls, recognition of their leadership potential, and a commitment to creating a coalition of like-minded organizations and individuals in support of balanced leadership in the workplace and in communities across the country.
During the Year of the Girl, Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada will mix celebrations of the organization's 100 years as the preeminent leadership experience for girls with efforts to create a sense of urgency around girls' issues.
