Greetings!
Gutten Erev Shabbos.

This past week we had two Siyumei at Yeshiva, one commemorating the yahrtzeit of Dr. Elliot Hahn's mother-in-law, and and the second one commemorating the yahrtzeit of Nadav Levine's grandmother.

We also had the privilege of having Rabbi Mechanic from Project Chazon come and speak in Yeshiva.

Please continue to daven for Alta Sara bas Itta, mother of Brian Kramer, who needs a refuah.

Hope you enjoy the pictures below.

Bais Medrash Celebrates Siyum Mishnayos

This week the B'nei Yeshiva had the zechus to participate in two Siyumei Mishnayos. One was made by members of our Bais Medrash in memory of Mordechai Pinchas ben Binyomin Helfman A"H, father of Mrs. Lillian Hahn, on the occasion of his 3rd Yahrtzeit. The bochurim learned the entire Seder Nashim in his merit and the Siyum was made by Yosef Stulberger, a talmid of the Yeshiva. Dr. and Mrs. Elliot Hahn sponsored a special breakfast attended by the Hahn Family, our Roshei HaYeshiva, Bais Medrash Rabbeim and bochurim in honor of the Siyum and the Yahrtzeit.

Sephardi Chief Rabbi Visits YTC

Right before vacation, YTC had the tremendous zechus to receive the Sephardi Chief Rabbi of the State of Israel, Rabbi Shlomo Amar, Shlit"a. Rav Amar, who is also known as the Rishon leZion, spoke divrei chizuk to the talmidim in Hebrew, giving them practical advice regarding their upcoming vacation.

"Vacation from our regular schedule is an important change of pace," he said, "but we must always remember, there is no vacation from learning Torah or davening with a minyan. Vacation is a time one can be presented with challenges that he doesn't face during the zman. The Torah tells us when Yosef was tempted to sin, he was able to save himself from the hideous act by conjuring up in his mind the face of his father."

Rav Amar asked how Yosef could picture his father's face at the time he was being confronted with such an awesome challenge. "It must be," he claimed, "that Yosef was accustomed to recalling his father's face regularly. It was only through this regular practice of picturing his father when he wasn't being confronted with a challenge, that he was able to do the same when he was being pressured to sin." Rav
Amar went on to exhort the young men to choose a figure in their own life whose image they could practice picturing in order to help them when they are challenged.

Rabbi Yosef Galamidi, Rav of the Safra Synagogue, accompanied the Rav and translated his remarks into English. Rav Amar ended his oration with a bracha for hatzlacha in learning and in combating with the yeitzer hara.

Nadav Levine Completes Seder Moed

YTC ninth grader Nadav Levine made a Siyum on Seder Moed in memory of his grandmother, Shayna bas Yisroel Nachum HaCohen A"H, whose Shloshim was observed last Friday. After the hadran, Nadav and his father, our Secular Studies Prinicpal Rabbi David A. Levine, spoke about the nifteres, and related some of the mishnayos learned to her life. The Levine family sponsored a special breakfast for the ninth grade in honor of the Siyum and the Shloshim.

Project Chazon Comes to YTC

This past week, Rabbi Doniel Mechanic, Founder and Director of Project Chazon, addressed YTC students regarding Emunah. Rabbi Mechanic is a world-renowned lecturer on topics related to Kiruv Rechokim. After spending 15 years as the Director of Aish HaTorah/Discovery, where he presented hundreds of seminars and inspired thousands of ba'alei teshuva, he decided to assist Yeshiva high schools in reinforcing and strengthening the Yiddishkeit of their students. Through his Project Chazon, he began presenting comprehensive seminars on the Yesodei HaEmunah to Yeshiva and Bais Yaakov high school students and teachers throughout the United States, Canada and England. His inspirational Hashkafah Shiurim have been presented in over 330 schools, with the endorsement of leading Gedolim, Roshei Yeshivos and Principals worldwide. His fascinating and unique programs have been a source of chizuk and hisorerus for over 165,000 Yeshiva students. Rabbi Mechanic's inimitable style, peppering his compelling hashkafa dialogue with humor and unabashed "straight talk," effected an instant connection with his audience. The bochurim listened intently and actively participated for more than two hours. Students left with their "Emunah tank" on full, and with a renewed appreciation for Hashem and His Torah.
