Home Sales Up in March
Sales of existing homes were up 3.7% in March 2011. This is an increase over February, but a reduction from March of 2010 when the federal homebuyer tax credit helped elevate sales.

Thanks Did you know that HOME sales in the HHI/Bluffton marketplace actually bottomed out in 2009 - 2 YEARS AGO?! It's been said that no one can predict/time the bottom perfectly, and we won't really know it until it has already occurred. Well, when it comes to the volume of HOME sales in our marketplace, the graph shows that we've been on the upswing solidly roughly 2 years. As sales increase, it is only a matter of time before prices stabilize and start to increase...so, if you've been on the fence as a buyer, this might be a good time to hone your focus on the marketplace. Utah Based Company Buys Daufuskie Resort The Peolorus Group of Salt Lake City recently purchased much of the Daufuskie Island Resort & Breathe Spa in a deal that closed on May 10th. The company acquired the Melrose golf course and clubhouse, the resort's inn, the tennis, conference and equestrian centers and about 16 acres of undeveloped land. Hopefully this is the start of good things to come for the Island!

Realtor Service Award Celebration
Hilton Head Island Buyer Specialists Ann Eden, Carl Girth, Serena Crisan, Joan Weaver, and Andrea Albright were recently treated to a performance of Hairspray by The Arts Center of Coastal Carolina. The Arts Center gifted each agent with two tickets to the show as a way to congratulate them for earning the Realtor Service Award for 2010. The group met for dinner at Santa Fe Café and then went to the show.

Giving Back
Donation/Tax Write-Off Opportunity: A good friend of mine from high school (Dayton, Ohio) has developed breast cancer and is in the fight of her life - as are so many people that we all know stricken with this horrible disease. A group of friends is putting on a fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society, centering it around the Relay for Life, but also doing a golf tournament and auction on August 13, 2011. One of the big ticket items that they hope to secure is a weekend or week's getaway property here on HHI! The group will cover the cleaning cost, but is looking for a property owner to make a donation of a week's availability at their property. Island Living
In a neat way, this weekend is going to demonstrate the diversity of beautiful resources as well as the laid-back nature of our social scene here on HHI. Good friends of mine are getting married with the Rose Hill Mansion serving as the back-drop...but, given the good timing, the day is actually going to start with the Go Tri Sports Triathlon. The bride and groom are seasoned triathletes (he is an Ironman finisher!), and many of the guests are as well...so the day will start on the beach for a mass-start ocean swim, and then end in the spectacular setting of majestic Oaks in Rose Hill Plantation. In their self proclaimed "Race to the Altar", this should prove to be a memorable day, and certainly a perfect way to capture the essence of Island Living. |
