Nearing the end of Stars Ballroom
The once mighty force in Northbay dance history readys for retirement

The Sad Conclusion
The time for our end is near, not as close as I thought it was yesterday but in the near future none the less.  For 12 years Stars Ballroom has taught new dancers, entertained the public and spread the passion for dance.  Frank Flores, the founder held the position of command for 9 years, unable to continue the lead but wanting to see Stars continue, the baton was passed to me.  Though I feel I fought some mighty battles in the last 3 years, the war has been lost.  The resources and income needed to sustain a beautiful ballroom like Stars have been far out of my reach.  I took on the challenge of the ballroom with a can't loose attitude, one I tried to keep to the end.  The landlords have tried very hard to cooperate, but in the end, they need to make money, don't we all?  I sent out a flyer over the weekend, a few of you may have seen, disclosing our Halloween party is our last bash.  This will be the last dance hosted by Jason & Yvonne.  Click here to go to flyer

Classes will continue in November on their normal schedule with their specified instructors.  Dances held by Freddie Marsh-Lott will go on as scheduled.  The doors will remain open as long as I can keep them open.

If you know of anyone interested in running a business out of Stars, it is a beautiful space and could easily be used during the day for any purpose.  Perhaps if we all put our heads together we could come up with a way to keep one of the best places to dance in the Northbay open.  I know one thing, one person cannot do it alone.

If it is Star's fate to close, please keep this thought in mind.  Dancing is the one thing we all love and have in common.  There are other establishments, like mine, working very hard to provide you with instruction, a place to dance and entertainment.  Many and I almost want to say all, struggle as well.  This is a tough business.  These venues need your support.  Next time don't just think about it, go and dance.  Expand your horizons and try some place new.  In the end it is really you, the dancer, that will suffer the disappointment of not having many choices of where to go dance.

I hope I get to see all of you in the next few weeks.  If you have outstanding private lessons, now would be a great time to book them.  It's also a perfect time to use up your class cards.

We will be looking for a place to continue or dance lessons, and we will continue to keep you posted everything to come at Stars.

Sincerely,
