Greetings! This week brings news that two charities have been censured by the Information Commissioner's Office for losses of personal data. Fortunately, these instances are rare in civil society, these being the first such examples since the Alzheimer's Society lost the details of 1,000 charity staff in February 2010; in comparison, a glance at the ICO's records shows that 18 local councils have lost data in that time. Nevertheless, any such lack of security is unacceptable, and these latest examples are a warning against complacency. |
