Greetings!   


Are you an optimist or a pessimist? Research released this week found that giving as a percentage of household income hasn't risen in the past 30 years - although, this also means it hasn't dropped during recessions. Let's look on the positive side, because with the government "managing expectations" on tax incentives and the Transition Fund, it's time for a bit of good news.

Government cool on philanthropic tax incentives

 

Any optimism among charities that the government might reform the tax system to encourage philanthropy from higher-rate taxpayers has been significantly dampened by both a peer and a Cabinet Office representative speaking of government reticence to implement change.

Minister for civil society Nick Hurd has confirmed that the government is considering "topping up" the Transition Fund but warned that there are "limited means available".
