Greetings!

Plenty of political news this week:  Labour's attempt to spare charities the VAT rise fails in the Commons; Nick Hurd confirms a crucial detail about the Big Society Bank, and Social Investment Business and Shaw Trust find themselves at the mercy of the new government. Meanwhile, an intriguing account of a meeting last year between members of the then-shadow Cabinet and the Association of Charitable Foundations also lends weight to fears that the Tories view the sector as a replacement for public spending.
