Whoever heard of a suffering God? The idea is plain daft. God is up in heaven, and there he will stay. But wouldn't it be wonderful if it were true? If God came to visit us, like a great king visiting his subjects? Or, even better, if he came among us as one of us, sharing our way of life, with all its tragedy, sorrows and grief?

Sunday Worship Service

@ 10:30am

That's What HE Said: "Get behind me, Satan!"

Christians believe that if there is a divine spiritual force or being out there, then there is a certain logic to the notion that you might get to know that God as distinct and personal. Believing in God is not nearly as strange for many of us, though, as believing in the existence of the devil. Even though we may feel, at times, that there was something greater working against our success (greater than our own simple blundering), we may hesitate to give it a name like "Satan".

With all of that in mind, consider a saying you may have heard: "Get behind me, Satan." Did you know that Jesus said that directly to the face of one of his followers? Not only that, but one who would be a chief leader & preacher in spreading the faith of Jesus after his death, resurrection and ascension?

We'll look at that interchange, and all the fun questions it stirs up, this Sunday at City Life Church. Join us at 10:30 at:

The Eastern Star Building
