KCNTS Class of 1906Saint Paul Library Receives Missouri Historical Records Grant

The archives at Dana Dawson Library, Saint Paul School of Theology, received funding for digitization, restoration, and archival quality prints of thirteen photographs related the  Kansas City National Training School for Deaconesses and Missionaries KCNTS). These photographs document the history of women's ministerial work in the Kansas City community and highlight Saint Paul's ongoing commitment to social issues.

The grant is for $513.16 and requires a 20% match of $128.29 by Saint Paul. The photographs are a part of our on-going effort to digitize the records of the deaconess movement in Kansas City and make them available on the web.

The grant was written by Maggi Mueller, Archivist, and Catherine Eilers, Technical Services Librarian.

Mai and C. Jarrett Gray, Sr. TreesTrees Planted in Honor of Mai Hutson and C. Jarrett Gray, Sr.

Two sugar maples were planted on the north side of the campus near Truman Road in honor of Mai Hutson and C. Jarrett Gray, Sr. last week.

The Grays were long time supporters of the seminary. C. Jarrett Gray, Sr. served on the first board of trustees which established the seminary in Kansas City. Mai Gray was the first African American president of the Women's Division of the United Methodist Church and served twenty-nine years on the Saint Paul board of trustees. Their son, Jon Gray, placed his parents ashes at the base of the trees.
The trees will be dedicated and plaques installed at the spring Board of Trustees meeting.
