Math = Fun! Even in Summer...
With the start of a new school year on the sunny
horizon,
now is a great time to review the skills your
kids
learned last
year, and to give them a jump start on math
concepts
they'll
start learning in the Fall.
For this special Summer edition of our
e-newsletter,
we have
Activities—lots of
Activities—based on
my stories about sand castles, bike
racing, lemonade stands, an amusement park, and,
of course, lunching on that m'mmm extra
special, oh-so-
tasty, summertime treat: seaweed soup.
When
the "back-seat brigade" starts to
fidgeting and asking, "Are we ever
going to get
there?," on the way to the beach / the picnic
/ the
camp-out /
the zoo / or wherever the day's adventure
takes you,
why
not start a game of tally? (as in Tally
O'Malley)
Planning a family outing to an amusement park?
Don't forget to bring your math skills! They come
in handy
for figuring out how many tickets you're going to
need for all
those amazing rides.
And math is a must on the beach! Measuring is the
only way
to know for absolutely positively sure who
has the
tallest
sand castle.
We have created three downloadable (pdf)
Activities
Pages,
one for each MathStart level (ages Pre-K
through Grade 4).
So, use your summer well, keep those math skills
rolling,
and have a great time, too!
Best summertime wishes,
