"I will magnify the Lord at all times. His praise shall continually be on my lips." [Accra, Ghana -- Airport] What a marvelous and wonderful project we have just concluded in Ghana. Since leaving the US on Monday, 21 September we have travelled nearly 10,000 miles (by land and air), preached in 100 different ministry settings - schools, villages, towns, and cities - and have witnessed 18,929 individuals indicate their personal decision to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior! This has proven to be one of our most intense projects to date, and for this, we give praise to God.
Rev. Sammy Lartey and his team of
Ghanaian pastors and leaders did an
outstanding job in both the preparation for
and facilitation of this project. We
travelled into some deep and remote areas
of the country on roads that took a toll on
both our bodies and our vehicles. One of
our vehicles broke all four of its suspension
coils (springs), which left some of our
teams stranded for a day. While this was
certainly an unexpected expense for us,
God again proved to be sufficient.
There are so many stories to convey from this project. We witnessed people from so many religious backgrounds come to our crusades and respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Here are just a few that deserve our repeating: 1. One Saturday night, Nick and I traveled into a predominately Muslim area of the country to present the "Jesus" film to the remote village. During the invitation, one particular lady was obviously moved by the Spirit of God, but seemed extremely hesitate to come forward with the others during the appeal. I later learned that this dear woman was a Muslim, who had heard the voice of Jesus calling to her and had, in fact, just asked Jesus to come into her life through faith. She explained to Brother Sammy Lartey her fear was that in coming forward she would be treated harshly and possibly killed by some of the militant Muslim villagers. "However," she said, "I have asked Jesus into my life and I must not be ashamed of Him!" 2. One day our schedule was frustrated by a problem in one of our schools. The kids were on break and unavailable for our program, but the headmaster of a nearby village school saw our vehicle and asked us to come to his school. We agreed and travelled to this new venue. When we arrived the entire audience consisted of 24 High School students and the Headmaster! I was able to preach without interpretation and during the invitation, all 25 people in attendance responded, by faith, to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The headmaster was weeping and talked with us for a long time after the program. We learned that this man was struggling with alcoholism but was today giving His life to Jesus. Pastor Sammy took this man's mobile phone number and address and has already sent a local pastor to begin discipleship for this new brother.
 3. The ordination ceremony of 15 of our pastors here in Ghana was a high and especially meaningful day to these choice servants of the Lord as friends, family and church members gathered to witness the setting aside of these pastors to the Gospel ministry. These men, all pastors of churches planted by Global Evangelism Ministries, are serving in rural and remote village locations, without much human attention or honor, but are completely rewarded by our Heavenly Father for their service and commitment. Each of these men has a very special place in my heart and are being financially supported through your designated gifts through GEM.
On behalf of Jeff Andler and Nick Ollila, let me express our deep appreciation to all who have prayed for us while on this difficult project. We could certainly sense the presence of the Lord with us during every move of the ministry. I also wish to thank you for your continued financial support for GEM and our ministry in Ghana. Your gifts have yielded incredible results. The long road continues home now as we board our flight to Germany. After a day of relaxation in Munich we will fly home to Charlotte. Thank you again for your love and support. Until Jesus comes, I remain Yours, in the fulfilling of the Great Commission,
