Friday, September 25, 2009, about 4:30 p.m. local time here in Ghana
The ministry project in Ghana has begun with enthusiasm. We have completed the first 2 days of ministry and have witnessed over 1,200 people indicate their decision to receive Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. The conditions are difficult, but God is, as always, proving faithful.
Our first day in the field saw us awake before 6:00 a.m., travel to the full ministry, and share the gospel in 7 separate venues before returning to our guest house around 2:00 or 2:30. One story of particular note took place during my presentation of the Gospel at a village school this morning. The school had assembled underneath a tin-roofed building nearby when the rain started to fall. Without the aid of any sound equipment, we shared the gospel during the downpour. I was convinced that noone could hear us so I stopped and simply asked Sammy to share the Gospel with the students. As Sammy moved toward the point in the program when he invited those listening to pray and call on the name of Jesus, I prayed fervently for the Lord to stop the rain so the people could hear clearly His appeal to them. As if with a switch, the moment the Gospel call to repentance and faith came, it was met with the rain slowing to nearly a soundless drizzle. I watched as hundreds of people called out to Jesus in faith. It was truly a moment of answered prayer. To God be the glory for the things He continues to do!
Tonight we head back out to the two film crusades where we will show the Jesus film and share the gospel to the crowds that gather. Please pray for God to go before us and prepare the hearts of the people who will be in attendance to both hear and respond to the message of Jesus Christ.
On a personal note, our team is doing well. The guest house where we are staying is clean and safe, but is lacking in many ways. We do have running water, but no hot water. The rooms have an overhead fan, so we are managing to stay cool enough. Food has not been a problem so far. The roads on which we travel are difficult and sometimes dangerous. But we must use them if we are going to go where others refuse to go. This is the mission and message of Global Evangelism Ministries. Thank you for standing with us as we go into all the world and preach the Gospel. Until Jesus comes, I remain,
Yours, in the fulfilling of the Great Commission,
