We're On Our Way!
Our team (Rev. Jeff Andler, Mr. Ollila, and I) arrived in Ghana this afternoon at approximately 3:30 p.m. (local time). The flight from Germany was comfortable and uneventful.
We did have some anxious moments while in Frankfurt. The airline personnel informed us that Nick would not be allowed to board the flight for Accra, since he did not possess a Visa for Ghana. (His plans were to buy his upon arrival in Accra.) Apparently the policy for the airline has "changed without notice" which now makes it impossible to issue a boarding pass to a person without a visa affixed to their passport, or a letter of invitation from the Ghana Immigration Office in hand. Jeff and I spent all day on Tuesday working on a solution to this hurdle. I even had Julie back in the states working on this for us - all apparently to no avail. On Tuesday night, as late as 8:30 p.m. (local time) we were plainly told there was nothing to be done for us and that Nick would have to contact and visit the Consular of Ghana office in Frankfurt this morning, get the necessary paper work completed and perhaps take the flight to Ghana on Thursday or Friday. We all went to bed last night with that in our hearts and minds. We did pray, and ask God to go before us and do something only He could do. There were also hundreds and thousands of people praying for us, and our ministry in Ghana.
GOD HEARD, INTERVENED, and PROVIDED for us!
Upon our arrival at the check-in counter this morning, Nick presented his passport and the agent simply asked him, "So you are going to get your visa upon arrival in Ghana?" "Yes" he replied, and without blinking she tagged his bag, gave him his boarding pass, and sent him on his way. We all boarded the aircraft with full understanding that God had accomplished this work. Nick's testimony on the plane was sobering. He walked to me and said this,
"Once again, I've learned, Nick can't make it happen, Roy and Jeff can't do it, but GOD can do whatever He wants to do. This trip is in God's hands!"
This is the truth I hope all you understand. This is just another page in the many ways God goes before us in our ministry. Global Evangelism Ministries is committed to going where others refuse to go - with the Gospel! We cannot do this in our own strength, ability, wisdom, and power. We can only accomplish our ministry as God goes before us and empowers us to do His will.
Please continue to pray for us as we leave Accra tomorrow morning and head out into the bush for two weeks of intense ministry. By God's grace we will continue to provide updates for you.
