THE HERALD OF HOPE

May 2009

Straight from my heart ...
Dr. Roy D. Mason, Jr.
President
These are exciting
days! The coming of the Lord Jesus is
drawing nearer and nearer! There should be no doubt in the heart and mind of
any true Christian. But the birth pangs,
about which Christ instructed his disciples, are real and present dangers to us
all.
We are
witnessing changes in our society and
the world at such a fast pace it is difficult to keep up with it all. We are experiencing many changes that are not
good.
Politicians promise
the people concerning the perceived new direction that is needed and the hope
that it will bring. However, the
promised hope is empty and the proposed change of direction is useless apart
from the fear of God. The scripture states:
"Return ... to the LORD your God. Your sins have been your downfall!
Take words with you and return to the LORD. Say to him: 'Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously, that we may offer the fruit of our lips.' " -- Hosea 14: 1-2 NIV The global events,
which from my perspective have the entire world system on a downward spiral
toward self-indulgent depravity and secular self-destruction, frustrate me on a
human level, while spiritually uplifting my soul in anticipation of the Lord's
return. Bless God for His eternal salvation!
The present times are
full of the signs! Is God slack
concerning His promise? No!
Why doesn't this age
pass away now (for it will surely pass away)?
I can think of only one reason for God's "delay".
There is still a great multitude of people who are yet to be redeemed by the marvelous grace of God!
If I have learned anything in my 50 plus years it is this: The only one that can bring change is the Lord Jesus Christ! The frail human governments and leaders seek to reform society and systems, but what the world needs is transformation. Transformation comes not through external changes, but through an inward work of the Spirit of God.
Beloved, the only hope of the world is in the person of Jesus Christ. The hope for your family, your neighbors, friends, and foes is Jesus Christ. It is my hope and prayer that you will continue to allow God to use your life to share with others the Good News. I know our time is running out. Whatever we are going to do for the Kingdom of God must be done now. Nothing we do is more important that sharing with others the powerful Word of God.
Thank you for your continued interest in what God is doing through the work of Global Evangelism Ministries. Until Jesus comes, I remain
Yours, in the fulfilling of the Great Commission,

CRITICAL NEED FOR OPERATION VIETNAM Project
May 4 - 20, 2009
We are less than one week away from our first ministry project to Vietnam and we are still facing a ministry financial short-fall of over $5,000. Global Evangelism ministries is facing one of the most exciting
opportunities ever presented to us. While this is our first trip into southeast Asia, I am certainly excited about this ministry opportunity. We
will be leading in several pastors' conferences, conducting village
preaching/evangelism seminars, participating in baptismal services, and leading
in an area-wide crusade in the central part of the country all while in partnership with our dear friends at Jeff Andler Ministries. This ministry
will give us the opportunity to invest in the lives of many pastors and
house-church leaders who are struggling under the communist leadership of the country. We will
be traveling from Ho-Chi-Min City into the more remote areas where the on-going work of the pastors and leaders is both difficult and
challenging. The project to Vietnam is an opportunity to lead in personal and mass evangelism projects, distribute Bibles, and train workers for the future work that will be done in this country.I trust you will
begin now to pray for this exciting ministry in Vietnam. Please consider how you might financially support this
critical ministry. You may certainly make a designated contribution to
this need through our secure, online giving site or you can send
your gift through the mail. This operation to
Vietnam is just another example of how GEM fulfills our mandate
to:Go into all the world and preach the
Gospel!

Ghana Pastors Express Appreciation
 Supporting the Pastors in Ghana!
While it is easy to talk about the harvest work that GEM does while on the field in Ghana, too often we take for granted the on-going work of our pastors on the ground. Pictured above are the men that Global Evangelism Ministries are working with in Ghana.
During our most recent ministry project in Ghana we sponsored and conducted a Pastors' Conference for these choice servants. Each of these men expressed their deep appreciation, not only for the financial support they receive through GEM, but more importantly, the teaching, encouragement, and training they received through the conference. "This is something that is greatly needed by our pastors" said Pastor Jacob Yakubu. This sentiment was expressed over and over again as the pastors told us of the benefit of such a conference. These brothers serve in very remote locations of the country with little, if any, availability of quality biblical teaching.
"For years we have been praying that God would use GEM to provide consistent training for our pastors" said National Director, Rev. Sammy Lartey. "Now we are able to take deeper steps into the work of the Gospel in Ghana and beyond!" he continued.
Each of these men
serve as a local pastor and/or church planter in remote and previously unreached
project areas. In other words, whenever GEM conducts a ministry project in an
area of the country where there is no viable local church, we leave a man there
to begin bible studies, worship services, and eventually a church. The men we have working around the country of Ghana traveled a great distance to be in attendance for the conference. "It was no small undertaking to get these men from their places of service to the town where we were meeting" said Roy Mason. "This was possible because of the absolute determination of Brother Sammy Lartey. He has long had a vision to see the Pastors Conference become a yearly event. After witnessing the apparent effectiveness of this venture, I am trusting that we will be able to continue this at least annually."

The Pastors Conference gave our American pastors the unique opportunity to invest directly into the lives of each of the men. Pastors Jeff Andler, Mark Chase, and Roy Mason shared from their years of pastoral experience, formal education, and passion to see the Kingdom of God expanded in an informal and personal way with the pastors.
"I really enjoyed the chance to invest in these dear brothers," said Mark Chase of Victory Baptist Church in Asheville, NC. "It is thrilling to know that God has given us the opportunity to move from my local church pulpit into pulpits in the remote parts of Africa" he continued. This Pastors' Conference might prove to be a wonderful spring board into our continued ministry profile in Ghana, but only as God continues to provide the necessary funding for pastors on the ground. Remember, your annual designated gift of $600 provides financial support for one pastor for one year.
We have these men funded for 2009, but will need these gifts to continue for our support next year. If you have not already become involved with this wonderful opportunity, perhaps you will consider sponsoring one or more of these men for 2010. All gifts for pastor support must be received prior to December 31, 2009. This is an excellent project for your Life Group, Sunday School class, or other organizational efforts. If you have questions about this project, please do not hesitate to contact us through this email, or our website.
If you are able to provide support for one or more of these servants, please click here and you will be directed to our website where you can give online. Once on that page, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the "PayPal Donate" button and follow the instructions. It is difficult to put into words
the labor of these men. Their love for the Lord and their commitment to seeing
the new Christians grow into mature followers of Christ is overwhelming. We are
praying for God to do a supernatural work in the hearts of our readers. Please
join us in asking God to continue to meet these needs! |
