The Wonder of Christmas
Dr. Roy D. Mason, Jr.
President

I love this season of the year!  Even in the face of the continuing debate with the secularists, we find ourselves at a time when the world, at least for a moment, is drawn into the acknowledgement of God's gift to us.

The holiday terms of joy, hope, and Peace on Earth all have their beginning and end in the Lord Jesus Christ.

There is no joy apart from Jesus.
There is no hope apart from Jesus.
There is no peace apart from Jesus.

All the world (with the exception of the radical terrorists) talks of, and longs for, peace on earth.  However, the Bible makes it clear there can be no Peace on Earth, until first we proclaim "Glory to God in the Highest."

Each time I see a person bow their head in faith and receive the gift of Jesus Christ into their lives, my heart is overjoyed. It's like Christmas day for that individual.

This is the most wonderful time of the year!  It is the time we are most perfectly reminded of God's greatest gift of all - the Lord Jesus Christ - given, so that all who believe might not perish, but have everlasting life. It is still a wonder to me that God would give His only Son that you and I might be forgiven of our sins.  This is mind-boggling and breath-taking!

As you celebrate this season of the year, I trust you will think about Jesus.  When you see the gifts, think about THE GIFT.  When you see the
lights, think about the LIGHT OF THE WORLD.  When you see the Christmas tree, think about the TREE ON WHICH JESUS DIED (the Cross).  When you see the star atop the tree, think about the HEAVENLY SIGN that pointed the way to the exact location of the Lord Jesus!

Most of the media is telling us that this year will be a very difficult Christmas season because of the apparent economic situation.  I know it is hard for many, including ministries like ours, but I still know that God is in control and His promises are sure.  He can be trusted! Stay in His Word, trust in His promises, and praise Him with all your life.  He can be trusted!

It is my prayer that you and your family will have a most blessed and joyous Christmas and that 2009 will be your most productive year ever in service to the King.  He can be trusted!
LOCAL PASTORS ARE KEY TO ON-GOING WORK IN GHANA

Pastors

One of the greatest needs of Global Evangelism Ministries is the monthly financial support of our local pastors in Ghana.  The group of men pictured here are our "hands and feet" on the ground in Ghana.

Each of these men serve as a local pastor and/or church planter in remote and previously unreached project areas.  In other words, whenever GEM conducts a ministry project in an area of the country where there is no viable local church, we leave a man there to begin bible studies, worship services, and eventually a church.

The work these men do is remarkable!  Each of them travel from their home town, deep into the bush, to provide the foundational leadership to the newly born communities of faith in the villages.  The total financial support for these men is the monthly responsibility of Global Evangelism Ministries.  Presently we have 2009 funding promised for five of these pastors but we still are in need of funding for the remaining seven.  The total monthly support for these remaining servants is $350 (seven times $50).

One of our 2008 support churches has notified us that they will not be able to provide funds for 2009.  While this was an unanticipated blow, we are certain that God will provide for these dear men of God by His own hand.  Perhaps God wants to use you to provide support for one or more of these men.

It is difficult to put into words the labor of these men.  Their love for the Lord and their commitment to seeing the new Christians grow into mature followers of Christ is overwhelming.  We are praying for God to do a supernatural work in the hearts of our readers.  Please join us in asking God to continue to meet these needs!
YEAR-END COMMITMENT NEEDED FOR
NEW YEAR'S VISION

There are several items that GEM needs to fund for the New Year.  Here is a list of the most pressing.

PROJECTORNEW VIDEO EQUIPMENT
COST:  $3,000

Since our inception we have been using 16mm, reel-to-reel projectors for the screening of the JESUS film. Over the past few years this equipment has been more and more difficult to replace or repair.  The replacement bulbs have become very expensive and hard to find.  At the request of our national Director, we are attempting to replace our current equipment with new LCD equipment.  This will mean new projectors, DVD players, and printing of the DVD into the local language.

PASTOR EBENEZER
ANNUAL SUPPORT FOR PASTORS
COST:  $4,200
As mentioned elsewhere in this newsletter, our single greatest need is for the financial support of our pastors in Ghana.  We are seeking the funding for seven additional pastors at $50 per month for twelve months.

Our funding needs to be in place for each of the pastors by January 1st. Your annual gift of $600 will provide the financial support for one pastor for one year.

We will provide personal information on each pastor to those who choose to provide support for them. These men are already working diligently, on the field where GEM has established ministry.

BIBLES FOR NEW CHRISTIANS
COST:  $4,500
peopleThe first of our two 2009 ministry projects to Ghana will be in March.  Each of these projects will require 15,000 New Testaments and additional Bibles and teaching materials.

It is our aim to place a New Testament into the hands of each person who indicates their decision for Christ on each project.  In addition, we leave boxes of complete Bibles for new churches on each project.

We also provide teaching materials for the pastors and leaders of each new church and school.  The annual cost for this ministry is $9,000.

COMPLETION OF CHURCH BUILDING

COST: $2,500SIMON CHURCH
GEM has committed to provide the funding for the completion of one of our anchor churches in Ghana.

Through the years we have worked with Pastor Simon and now we must complete his church building.  The price will provide funding for a new roof, permanent walls, and lighting.

The total cost for the completion of the building is $5,000 and in our partnership with JAMin we hope to complete this building by March of 2009, which means we must provide the funds in January.

Can you tell me?
Global Evangelism Ministries is excited to announce a new forum we have through our web ministry!  Throughout the years, we have been asked many valid questions and have always tried to answer them honestly.  A few weeks ago a dear friend suggested that we begin to answer some of the questions for our friends on the web.  After some prayer and discussion with some of our trusted colleagues, we have decided to give this a try.

The format for this column will be simple.  we will attempt to give a succinct answer in the opening paragraph (for those who really don't take time to read long emails) and then a more detailed answer in the "more on the matter" section of each email.

We trust you will you feel free to submit questions you think need answering.  Please understand that we will never publish the name of the person submitting the question but will answer the question for our larger web audience.  Through the years, we've learned that often we have many of the same questions.  click here to submit a question
