What is the Herald of Hope?
The primary purpose of Global Evangelism Ministries is to present the life-changing message of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world.
A herald is defined as "one that conveys news or proclaims." This is exactly what all who are connected with GEM are doing. We are proclaiming the love of the Lord Jesus with all that we encounter.
Our mission statement is this:
As God enables us, we will take the message of Jesus Christ into all the world and help people seek His Kingdom by preaching the Gospel message that calls for a decision which spiritually transforms people, churches, and cultures.
With this in mind, we have chosen the name, "The Herald of Hope" for our monthly internet publication. |
Harvest Ghana Project
Thousands respond to the Gospel in Ghana!
On October 12th GEM will leave the USA for our second ministry project in Ghana this year. National ministry director, Sammy Lartey and his staff has been working tirelessly for several months preparing the field for what we trust will be a great harvest for the Kingdom of God.
In a recent email Sammy wrote, "We[the churches in Ghana]would have wish to contribute Financially to this Good Work if we are in position to do so, but since we cannot do this, God brought GEM to do this all alone. I am very grateful to GEM and All who have been making Projects possible through their Givings.May our Good Lord richly bless all the families of GEM."
While it is absolutely true that we do all, within our power, to control the expenses of our projects around the world, the current economic situation reveals a substantial increase in our expenses. A typical project to Ghana will yield approximately 15,000 indicated, first-time decisions for Christ! This incredible number is not without cost.
The cost for this upcoming project with two preaching teams (which includes travel, lodging, meals, and all "in-country" project costs) will be in excess of $11,000. Admittedly, it is impossible to put a price on anything we do; however, one can easily deduce that historically for every $.75 received for our project ministry in Ghana we have seen an indicated first-time decision for Christ.
There is no limit to the harvest fields in Ghana.
Jesus said in Matt 9:37-38, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest ." This same truth is working today. Like many other ministries around the globe, GEM has made the commitment to God to go wherever He sends us. We are both thankful for and commissioned by the Lord Jesus to share His love with the people of Ghana during these coming days.
We do, however, appeal to your involvement in the ministry. Jesus again said, "Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes, and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest. Already he who reaps is receiving wages, and is gathering fruit for life eternal; that he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. For in this case the saying is true, 'One sows, and another reaps.' "I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labor." --John 4:35-38 This passage makes it clear that both the sower and the reaper rejoice together AND have an equal share in the blessing.
Our ministry teams are asking you to join us in supplying the funds (seeds) for our going to spread the Word of God. Remember, the Word of God NEVER returns empty! We do not ask for your financial support with any pressure, but with encouragement. Listen to the words of the Apostle Paul:
Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. -- 2 Cor 9:10-11 NIV Giving to ministry causes should always cause one to realize that everything he or she has is because of the blessings and grace of God. While I do not advocate what is commonly referred to as the "Prosperity Gospel" I do believe that God will never be a debtor to anyone of us. He wants us to learn the joy and grace of being a blessing to others. Read again what Paul said, "You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion."
Paul concludes this section of his letter with this word of approbation:
This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift! --2 Cor 9:12-15 NIV As you give of your financial resources to the work of GEM in Ghana, you can be assured of the thankfulness, not only of your team traveling to a foreign land, but more importantly the thanksgiving of those who are touched on distant shores. The pastor here is expressing his deepest appreciation for all that the friends of GEM are doing to help bring the gospel to his beloved country of Ghana.
Too numerous to mention are the words of appreciation that have been expressed to us for all that you are doing to make possible the ministry in Ghana.

Bibles for Ghana
Words cannot express the urgency of the need we have on every project to Ghana for the purchase of Bibles for those who make decisions for Christ. Ministry partner Rev.Jeff Andler (pictured here) has helped distribute over 30,000 bibles and New Testaments during our multiple projects into West Africa. The response we receive from our friends in Ghana is overwhelming! When we tell them [the pastors and church leaders in Ghana] that our friends here in the USA have made it possible for us to present a New Testament or Bible with every person who indicates their decision for Christ their eyes fill with tears and they have nothing but praise for our Heavenly Father. We are still able to buy New Testaments in Ghana for the incredible price of $25 per case (100 Testaments). During each of our ministry projects in Ghana we are able to distribute around 15,000 New Testaments, which means we need $3,750 for this expense. If you would like to give Bibles in Ghana click here to be directed to our website.

Can you tell me?
Global Evangelism Ministries is excited to announce a new forum we have through our web ministry! Throughout the years, we have been asked many valid questions and have always tried to answer them honestly. A few weeks ago a dear friend suggested that we begin to answer some of the questions for our friends on the web. After some prayer and discussion with some of our trusted colleagues, we have decided to give this a try. The format for this column will be simple. we will attempt to give a succinct answer in the opening paragraph (for those who really don't take time to read long emails) and then a more detailed answer in the "more on the matter" section of each email. Click here to take a look at the first few questions that have already been asked. We trust you will you feel free to submit questions you think need answering, via email to questions@gemonline.org. Please understand that we will never publish the name of the person submitting the question but will answer the question for our larger web audience. Through the years, we've learned that often we have many of the same questions.
