ALLTOGETHERNOW: EXPLORATIONS IN DIGITAL ART AND VIDEO New World School of the Arts' first 2012 exhibition, Alltogether Now: Explorations in Digital Art and Video showcases artists from the NWSA college program that are presently working in electronic-based media. The body of work includes digital animation and experimental print as well as image projection and installation. Together under one platform, the pieces exhibited aim to visually and interactively communicate the current trends in digital aesthetic and technology. The curator of the show, Carlos Gallostra - NWSA faculty, drawing and painting - highlights "This work is about construction and replacement in our environment. It deals with the idea of using materials to give them another purpose and significance. How we create imitations of wood and other materials to somehow replace them and how it affects our environment and future advancement in return." January 26 - February 24 Opening Reception: January 26, 6:00-9:00 PM New World Gallery 25 NE 2nd Street, downtown Miami Free and open to the public |

NEW WORLD SCHOOL OF THE ARTS HIGH SCHOOL AMONG THE BEST IN THE NATION NWSA, nationally recognized for its excellent artistic program, has again been recognized as one of the leading high schools in the nation. Receiving a Gold Medal ranking New World School of the Arts made the grade as "America's 2011 Best High Schools." The selection was announced by the publication, which analyzed 21,000 high schools in 48 states including the District of Columbia using a formula produced by a K-12 data research and analysis business, run by Standard & Poors. "It is no secret that encouraged, creative and engaged students perform better if they are properly nurtured encouraged and empowered," said NWSA High School Principal, Lisa Noffo. "That is what New World School of the Arts students receive at this institution and what helps them stand out from the rest. This year's statistical data, which places NWSA among the top 100 high schools in the nation, demonstrate that when coupled with a rigorous academic curriculum, a substantive arts program can yield outstanding educational results." In order to determine the ranking, the analysis looked at results yielded by Advance Placement (AP) tests as well as International Baccalaureate (IB). The rigorous academic high school program at New World School of the Arts offers students the ability to graduate as seniors with a total of 24 college credits. The NWSA high school program also earned an "A" grade from the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) this year. More about NWSA's ranking results |
