YOUNGARTS REIGNS AT NWSA
With seven finalists in the YoungArts roster this year, New World School of the Arts once again excels at training its talented students. Representing three of the NWSA four arts divisions, the students who will be attending YoungArts Week include Caitlin Bonet, from the Dance program, Daniel Rosenberg, and Sasha Neufeld (graduate) from Theater, and Audrey Gair, Daniel Young, Asher Mones, Annabell Lee from Visual Arts. Three students from NWSA's music division also received merit scholar designation. These include Thomas Dover (Jazz Trombone); Frank Perez (Piano), and Christina Peruyera (Voice).
Lisa Noffo, High School Principal at NWSA comments "The administration, faculty and staff are so proud of our young artists who have been selected to showcase their work through this premiere national organization. The inspiration and passion for their art serves as a testament of the continued strength and excellence of this school's curriculum."
The seven NWSA finalists will join other national winners in YoungArts Week, a program designed by NFAA to give talented students from across the nation the opportunity to work with other students, while being mentored and taught by professionals in their field. YoungArts Week runs through January 14 with free performances at various venues around South Florida.

THE STATE THEATER PROJECT DEBUTS NWSA ALUMNI TALENT
Founded by NWSA college alum David Hemphill, the State Theater Project, one of the youngest yet most dynamic theater companies to grace South Florida, highlights the talent that is being honed at New World School of the Arts. Comprised of four NWSA alumni including Hemphill as Producing Artistic Director, Managing Director - Ashley Olberding, Elaine Bryan as Technical Director and Jackie Rivera as Resident Designer, the company will make its full production debut this week with Michael Vukadinovich's award-winning play Billboard, a poignant comedy about a recent college graduate who bears a tattoo of a corporate logo on his forehead and his girlfriend's struggle to accept his out-of-character decision.

A LIFE OF DANCE. WORLD-CLASS DANCE PERFORMANCE CELEBRATES DEAN DANIEL LEWIS
After twenty four years serving the South Florida community as dean of dance at New World School of the Arts, the recognized visual and performing arts conservatory in downtown Miami, Daniel Lewis, [Danny], will become the first founding dean to retire from the school after having served since it opened its doors in 1987. To celebrate Dean Lewis' tenure, NWSA will present "Daniel Lewis - A Life of Dance" tribute concert which will feature some of the nations' renowned dance companies. The concert will be preceded by a VIP reception and "Dinner with the Dean."
Directed and organized by NWSA faculty and choreographer Jose� Garant, the long-awaited concert, which has been in the works for more than a year, will feature performances by world-acclaimed dance companies, dancers, and choreographers including Gerri Houlihan from American Dance Festival; Michael Uthoff, Artistic Director of Dance St. Louis; Jim May, Artistic Director Sokolow Theatre Dance Ensemble; Robert Battle, Artistic Director of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater; Carla Maxwell, Artistic Director of Lim�n Dance Company; Martha Graham Dance Company; Rosie Herrera Dance Company; Tango for All Company, as well as choreographers and alumni from New World School of the Arts, among others. WIND ENSEMBLE CONCERT, A FANTASTIC OPTION
The award-winning NWSA High School Wind Ensemble, under the baton of Maestro Lee Michael Morrison, will perform a wide range of music on its next concert, entitled The Fantastic Toy Shop. Special features of this energetic, refreshing concert will include guest ensemble Coral Way K-8 Symphonic Band, under the direction of Maestra Michele Fernandez-Denlinger, and guest conductor Maestro Douglas Phillips of University of Miami. Music selections will include Rossini's La Boutique Fantasque, Ravel's La vall�e des cloches, and Roger Cichy's epic work Divertimento for Winds and Percussion.
